If you want something lite and heavy on combat then 4ed is perfect. I do miss non combat stuff, but D&D was never good at that stuff anyway.

You should really try GURPS then. It's so involved that it takes a lot of prep work for the GM but the potential is limitless. It's so realistic sometimes it feels like roleplaying real life.
