this game (The Witcher) cost $15 and is listed as requiring vista. i installed it in .5 seconds on xp with 0 hiccups. since 48 hours later i got a sweet bug with a jinxed nero 9 download and upgraded to windows 7 RC i've had to , in this order:
find out that the CD protection requires a driver that can't be installed on vista/7 (it's the TAGE driver and it will send your vista/7 to the blue screen of death if it tries to install), figure out that i can bypass that with a crack, find the only crack i can find is for an Enhanced Edition, have to download a 900mb patch to bring it to enhanced edition, find out that to install that that i have to register the game, find out that i have to create a fuckin account with some polish website to be able to register my game, use my registration info in like 2 or 3 places before i can attempt upgrading, find out a language pack is required to upgrade (another 450mb download), find out that the language pack is corrupt, find another download for the language pack that's moving at 1/4 the speed of the first one, and am currently waiting. i started installing this game at 5pm pst. i've went to a barbeque, i've gotten verbally and physically angry about it/laughed at by the woman, and i dropped somethin off my table and broke it when i slammed my forehead on the desk repeatedly as one cockblock came up after another
i've never ever ever ever ever ever had a problem installing games. this post is totally insignificant but i want to rant and hope maybe someone else has a story about something that's supposed to be super simple
