SWTOR Launch

Postby Lyion » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:58 pm

Not sure where I'll be playing, but if anyone wants to screw around, post your server.

I'll be on a RP-PVE to start as I hate stupid names, and methinks this game will be full of them.

I should be getting an early access email today, but I haven't decided on a server yet.

Edit: Just got the email. Sucks being at work.

I'm on The Ebon Hawk.. I have an Imperial BH named Rondel and a Jedi Consular named Selma.

Doing Republic side first, hop on if you want.

Take a sick day, Griever!

Neither did Kahar or a few others I chatted with.

I was a day 1 preorder.

As was I. I actually preordered within the first few hours of the announcement.

Lyion, I joined your server and probably have a couple friends following. I made a smuggler named Sever. I'm pretty sure they are going Republic as well. I don't think I'll be able to play any tonight, but I'll look you up soon.

Awesome, I'm trying to get a few more friends there. Leveling is a blast, but I have no clue how endgame is. Being a huge Star Wars geek probably doesn't hurt, either.

I won't be playing this game nearly as hardcore as I did WoW, so the endgame is not much of a concern to me. Being a Star Wars geek as well, I'll enjoy it no matter what.

I tried beta and honestly I did not like this game at all. Stopped playing Rift as well. I think I'm just done with MMOs for awhile

The game is fun for me. I can relate with MMO burnout, but as I'm a huge Bioware fan and the game is a lot of ME2/Kotor style questiong I'm really enjoying it.

I have no idea if it'll last long term, but I've had great fun soloing and grouping for Flashpoints and Heroics so far. I think if someone likes Bioware single player games, they'll get some good fun out of this.

I agree with Lyon's sentiments about the game. It's a form of a KoTR game in an MMO fashion, the flashpoints, heroics, and the storyline for all classes so far are wonderfully done.

Lyion, what do you think about the server queues? Will you be tempted to switch to a light server?

I had a 10 minute queue yesterday. That was it. I can deal with that. I bet it thins out after December when the game becomes primarily focused for casual play. The crazy people will have burnt out and moved to Diablo 3 due to the void of their personal life not being filled solely by SWTOR. I plan on leveling at least 4 characters and checking out all the content. I'm really enjoying the game, even more than Skyrim which really surprises me.

I may make my first alt on a low pop server, sticking to the RP-PVE theme, though if ours stays FULL a lot of the time.

The queue times weren't as bad as I thought they would be yesterday. I had to wait 20 minutes, but it wasn't that big of a deal especially knowing that queue times will get shorter. I have a couple more friends coming to the server so I plan to stick it out. This is the first MMO that I actually want to play every class. I'm probably doing Jedi Consular Shadow/Infiltration next with Jedi Knight Sentinel after that.

I love that this game is an RPGmmo and not a MMOrpg.

Same here. I made a guild, so ping me for an invite. I'm also 300 Synth if you need any Jedi/Force armor made.

I made my Agent on the same server, but I'm game to check another one out, since it's level 2 so far.

WTF, the time I actually have time to myself, no baby, no wife and I forgot to subscribe. I'm stuck in a Queue just to give them my F'ing CC#.

BioWare are greedy mother fuckers. The world seems pretty blind to this because they make pretty kickass games, but their business model of money first, fan base a distant second is going to catch up with them.

I would think delivering a high quality product is the greatest service a company could give to its customers.

They shouldn't, but they will. BioWare makes excellent games and they are a reputable developer. People will play their games simply because it was made by BioWare. BioWare was the perfect company to develop a MMO to supplant WoW. Blizzard and BioWare are almost identical. They both make excellent games, their business model is "money first" and have terrible customer service.

As long as you deliver a quality product, customer service can and will be neglected. Customers will bitch all day but they will still pay. Until they stop paying, BioWare or Blizzard won't notice.

Bioware seems about as greedy as Blizzard. I like their products so I pay for them. SWTOR is a quality game. I'll play it while I enjoy it, and cancel when I don't.

The game is wisely built to market to casuals and steal a good chunk of the MMO market. The hardcore people won't last, but most of us on this board don't fall into that category anymore.

I'd be curious what games you feel are better.
