Well shit! Hopefully my beta luck will hold out as I seem to have been to get into almost everything the last 5 years.

Really awesome video (with zero minutes of game play) but I wonder how Bethesda is going to justify having people pay a monthly subscription for something so buggy it's almost unplayable while not supporting it because they're working on their next project.

Heh, it will be another "The Old Republic". There is potential for a great game, IF, and only if they don't blatantly copy the WoW formula. Plus yeah, buggy as fuck needs to be avoided. Hard to say without seeing some actual gameplay.

The video was really awesome though. At one point I couldn't tell if it was mo-cap or real people.

it's not made by bethesda so hopefully it won't be rife with bugs

still not gonna play it tho. every MMO is the same. and multiplayer games i don't have to pay money for are better (dark souls, zombies)

Little late in the game for this, isn't it? I thought the MMO ship sailed quite some time ago.

I have sometimes wished that certain MMOs were single-player games.

The video was good, but again these movies don't do anything for me since they are not actual game footage.

Now, when do we get to the point where the game actually looks as good as these CGI movies?

As far as MMOs, I'm done paying for them. I enjoyed Rift and WOW, but there is zero need for me to pay 15/mo for a sub with so many good free options out there. Plus, I like nabbing Steam games and have enough stockpiled for probably the next ten years.

I'll pay box price and buy new content. I most likely won't pay to play anything probably ever again, unless it's a really good new technology that deserves my monthly coin. I.e., no more dailies, static raiding, and bullshit faction grinds with standard level and play mechanisms... No thank you, sir.

But Lyion, those scorpion tails aren't going to collect themselves! What is a poor alchemist to do if not ask for the help of wondering adventurers.

For $15 a month there should be dynamic content being created on the fly. What EQ I is doing now is basically charging $15 for nothing. I think there’s about 0.5 full time programmers working on content at any given time on Everquest.

I love the allure of a huge dynamic world, but it's a pipe dream for the immediate future. The only thing close is EVE and it's does not translate well to a Fantasy setting.

p.s. I'm interested what SOE will do with EQN. It sounds like it might not just be another WOW clone.

Yeah but....

Everything that isn't a wow clone fails before it even launches to the public.

Kind of a lose / lose scenario for MMOs these days

Someone still needs to release a mini MMO do it yourself kit so people can run their own servers.

it can't in an MMO. there are too many people in any particular area at any given time to make graphics as good as non-MMOs. there was some article about elder scrolls online in gameinformer a long time ago and the devs stated the graphics look like shit in MMOs because they have to. you can't have nice graphics and 50+ people in the same spot

Except easy to use tools to create your own content. If you're a programmer, sure.

end of the day i'm still partial to EQ mac. i'm sure you've all heard about how it's "frozen in time" and it really is. you even use the old graphics client and it has the old skeletons, wolves, spiders, etc. and it's still hard as fuck unlike EQ now :) also completely free! no shitty f2p restrictions like real EQ. which now charges you $15 a month so you can have 4 more bag slots and wear gear you're never gonna get anyways

I've run eq emulators. Setting up a preexisting world and tweaking it is easy. Creating a new world is not.

I remember hopping on your NWN server, Toss. It was setup pretty cool. It'd be awesome if something 3D and a bit more advanced would be released.

So I tried for about an hour and didn't like it at all. The graphics are outdated, controls are clumsy almost as if they tried to port gamepad controller from PS or XBox onto the keyboard.

I doubt I'll even play again in the Beta, let alone buy it
