at the time, I didn't really feel like I was missing out by not having a SNES. Phantasy Star, Herzog Zwei, Dune, Populous, Shadowrun, etc. I've still never actually played a SNES that I can recall. No one I knew had one. They all had Genesis. I think it was marketed more towards kids. I was already in my 20's when it came out. I had and love my NES and the N64 is still one of my faves but for whatever reason wasn't interested in SNES.

I think cocaine and women usurped gaming for me during the "golden age". I didn't start gaming again until the Saturn and N64 came out.

Genesis came out 1989, SNES 1991. That's the difference. I was already 2 yrs in to the Genesis by the time it came out and my interest in vids waned by then. I turned 21 in 1991.

I picked up a Gameboy in 1989 and as I spent most of the next three years in the Gulf I was rocking that and missed the SNES/Genesis years. It was nice I had a single cartridge I nabbed in Bahrain with a few hundred games. I was like you Toss in I was older and more interested in clubs, books, and travel then video games then, except then I got addicted to Compuserve and the Imagination Network and moved to MMOs. Then my life was over.

A lot of the story element of Shadowrun actually seems cooler than a game to me. I tried to read a Shadowrun book a while back and it was awful, though.

Quite a few of the books are painfully bad. I managed to round the entire series up when I was still in highschool. The earliest books are the best in the series and it just kind of goes downhill about 10-15 books in. Much like Dragonlance.
