came across a cool desktop customizer the other day, wanted to share: http://www.rainmeter.net

there's a pretty big rainmeter skin community over on deviantart as well

i wanted to keep mine subtle, so after several hours of editing code, here's what my desktop currently looks like (sorry if it's huge):

Image

left side:
top - notes (click on the heading to open a .txt file where you can add or remove notes)
middle - current weather (updated via RSS)
bottom - sunrise/sunset times (also RSS)

middle:
top - cubs.com feed
middle - cnn feed
bottom - time + calendar
barely visible in the horizon line - winamp with track, time elapsed, and progress bar (that one was a bitch to figure out)

right:
top - the big thing in the corner is more than just a clock: also buried in there are system resource meters, network traffic info, calendar, and song progress
bottom - very simple system resource meters

do any of you have super fancy desktop layouts? i am really digging this!

I have a black screen w/ no icons.

But that is simply because my monitor is off when I am not using it.

I have a photographs from when I was exploring a brownfield (old manufacturing plant that was in the process of being torn down).

and my GUI lets me right click anywhere on the background to bring up a menu of programs & drives.
