If you log into your account on PC I think you can adjust your bandwith. I use it alot. Video quality will deep if your using it at peak hours (I guess their servers get hammered). Quality will just drop all of a sudden then a few seconds later it will clear up. I like the service, especially for tv shows. Canadian library is not the best, but you can get proxy services that will trick it to think your in the US so you get the full library.

i run it thru my iphone and xbox since i don't really have a computer anymore. my video quality is consistently "HD" or 3 bars. it seems to just take up all your bandwidth. whatever's available. if i'm downloading shit or trying to watch it on a shoddy wi-fi or poor connection then the video quality drops off a cliff

Strange. Like I said, I use netflix a lot and during peak hours (8-11ish) I often get a drop off for a few seconds every 45 minutes or so. Mildly annoying but for such a cheap service I don't mind.

Full HD here on all my devices if the show is in HD.
About the only one it ever stutters on is my phone.
I use a couple different connections for a couple different devices.
25/5 on my home pc.
8/1.5 on my mac (girlfriend's house).
1.5/1.5 on my tablet (work).
20/10 on my phone (miniHDMI out to tv and also have the laptop docking station thingy from Motorola).
Maybe it is the Roku?

I got Netflix, mostly for my daughter. She has Ruku in her bedroom and we got a PC in the living room. My Netflix works perfectly, HD is HD when available, the rest is at max resolution. Never had any issues so not sure why you are having them.

I dont know what TED is but im fairly certain the resolution of youtube videos requires less bandwidth and it could be a different streaming tech all together
You have 5 mbps down? Basic comcast here is 20 down 6 up. I only have problems when my ages old router needs a reset. Weirdly enough i have more issues with youtube than netflix :boggle:

I'm on 12mbps so that may be why I have better quality

Try a different streaming service, like Amazon prime or something. See if you get the same issues. If yes, it's your box. If no, it's something specific to Netflix, and see if they can help you.

I'm pretty picky about my quality. I don't like to watch anything that isn't atleast 720p. I find certain popular streams like Cuevana to be substandard. Having said that, the only real quibble with Netflix is sometimes the voices will be out of sinc by half a second. The video (for the most part) is very good.

PS3. I could try to stream it through my pc later if you'd like me to test the quality. I have my PC setup to my tv through HDMI.

that's guys having issues connecting, not low quality streams
I mean, it's entirely possible that my 5mbps connection just isn't fast enough for anything better than low quality netflix, but it seems odd since youtube and TED stream just fine
The problem isn't the same, but the explanation makes sense.
Netflix has different streams based upon what is connecting to it & maybe change the DNS settings to see if that helps too.

Netflix on all my devices is pretty solid here. When the program starts up, the initial quality is pixelated but it cleans up within a few seconds and looks good.
