what a winner.

and people wondered how his brother turned out that way he did...

My friend made a funny comment after the Shootings at VTech

I told him that they discovered who the person was, my friend said, "No way, i just knew they were gonna say it was Marcus Vick!"

So Vick doesnt' get suspended because Goodal says he's not been convicted yet. Uhhhh were Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones convicted when they were given suspensions? Maybe I misunderstood their stories but this sounds like favoritism because he's one of the leagues more popular players.

Tank and Pacman aren't cash cows for the league. No surprise, really.

The bigger issue which is being ignored is his indictment for gambling. That's a huge deal.

I'm just saying, I'm suprised this hasn't been brought up yet and people are acting like it's no big deal just because he's a star. I already miss Tagliabue.

Actually, Tank was convicted. Goodell had to wait til he got out of jail to decide on his suspension. But both he and Pacman were hammered cause they'd been suspended by the league multiple times before, so they were "repeat offenders". Vick hasn't been suspended before for off-the-field behavior issues.

Now, if Vick gets convicted, he's fucked. I'll be surprised if he's ever let back in the league at all.

Tank had already served jailtime -- Pacman was suspended because he's been arrested about 50 times.

The new conduct policy supposedly deals out immediate suspensions for repeat offenders, and this is Vick's first. Although you could make the argument this is much worse than getting stopped for DUI a few times, since it went on for years, he just didn't get caught.

I'm curious if they are regretting that Matt Schaub trade right now.. Or not snatching Brady Quinn when they could have...

Well, from what CNN-SI is saying, even though the court handling the case is one of the fastest in the Federal system, the trial is not likely to start until 6+ months from now, which would be after the NFL season. You can't suspend someone based on allegations, no matter how bad, which means that Vick is almost certainly going to get to play out this season, unless he plea-bargains the charges, in which case who knows.

But if this goes to trial, it'll almost certainly start Jan/Feb time frame, so he'll play out the 07-08 season. NEXT year though, all bets are off.

Due to the wonderful agreement the moron players union put in place, Goodel can suspend someone for just about anything. He has the end appeal rights for all decisions, remember?

The bigger question is what will Arthur Blank do. He's a shrewd businessman and doesn't want his brands, the Falcons or Home Depot tarnished. It'll be interesting to see how he handles this.. Whether he cuts his ties, or sticks with Vick

falcons were never ever going to get to the superbowl, let alone win one with Vick anyway

they might as well turf him, and go for 1st over pick next season

I doubt Vick will get cut simply because of the salary cap implications. He signed a 10 year, $98 million contract in 2004. The falcons would take a $8 million cap hit in 2007 and $15 mil in 2008 if they cut him.

You'd think that there'd be some sort of provision written into the system to allow a felon's salary to not count towards the cap while they're in prison

It's just a couple of dogs fighting. No before you go flaming me, I'm a pet owner (shelty named Lola) but there is a difference between someones pet and a random animal. It's not like he took some little girls pig and threw it on a bar-b-que. How many animals are killed everyday in this country by shelters???
Is it cruel? Absolutely and Vick should have to serve community time taking care of sick and injured animals, not lose his career over it.

Did he bet on himself in any of the gambling? Or was it just bets made on the dog fights?
