What in hell are the Suns thinking?

Postby Arlos » Wed Feb 06, 2008 12:30 pm

ESPN is reporting that the Suns are about to trade Shawn Marion to Miami for Shaq.... WTF?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3232862

Maybe this makes more sense to one of you here who really knows basketball, but this makes no sense to me. Shaq has gotten to be about as slow as molasses, injured lots, and probably couldn't defend anything like he used to. So how's he going to fit into the Sun's 900 mile an hour offensive style?

When i read about this earlier i was shocked. It is going to change their offense quite a bit, but offense the past few years has never really been a problem, its their defense. Now i do not agree with this line of thinking, but i believe they think that by getting Shaq they can stand toe to toe with the other elite teams. Amare, has never been a good defender at all, this will allow him to defend power forwards instead of Centers.

I think its stupid, but the Suns realize their window for winning a championship is closing rapidly. It is deffinatly going to be interesting to see how this actually works for them.

It's a snap decision after the lakers move. A really bad one if you ask me.

Maybe the Suns just wanted to get rid of Marion.

Where Shaq goes, titles follow so far and I honestly think he might have 1 more title in him. Don't ask me why because that opinion is going against all stats and evidence.

Considering what they could have got for Marion I think it was a very bad trade, second fuck up Steve Kerr has made, getting rid of Kurt Thomas, now this?

could have easily picked up someone like J.O who is a much better defender than Shaq is, he cant even run the floor, how is he meant to fit into that offense?

Diaw can now step it up. He has been whiny ever since Amare came back and forced him into the 7th man role. Two years ago when Amare was hurt he was crazy-good in the playoffs- Good enough to get an extension. He will play harder now with more time and hopefully prove himself to be the starter and difference maker he was when he got the large amount of playing time.

Oh and Shaq will be fine. He will help immensely when Nash is sitting out his twelve minutes a game and Barbosa has to get the offense rolling.
