I'm so happy the Cowboys got some humility smacked into their smug faces. Go Skins!

It's interesting how some thing's have changed in a year, but most of the top teams remain up there.

I'm pretty uncertain regarding a lot of teams. Fantasy football will be fun this year. So many question marks.

They played a lot better last year than they have in quite some time. I think we will only see improvement in Detroit int he next several seasons. No one can suck forever and it is well past time that detroit stops being a joke.

Their D is scary. Suh is a beast. I think they are better than the Vikes and Bears, personally. Stafford played lights out in the preseason, too.

I almost hope the 49ers go like 2-14 this season, so that they can then draft Andrew Luck, and re-unite him with Harbaugh. Given the new regime, I think the fan base will understand if there are growing pains. Especially with Alex Smith back at the helm.

Then again, who knows, maybe the argument that all Alex has REALLY needed is a competent coaching staff to get him to live up to the potential that saw him drafted 1st overall. He's finally got a decent receiving corps, between Braylon Edwards, Crabtree and Vernon Davis. Plus, Gore's a beast. Their O-line, however, is very much a work-in-progress.

So, I see 2 extremes: Say, 9-7, and win the division, or 2-14 and 1st overall draft pick.

Just read the Jags cut Garrard. I was thinking he might be a nice fit in San Fran.

The biggest problem with going 2-14 is you have to actually lose games in the woeful NFC West. Seattle looks bad. Kolb is overhyped in Az, and their D is suspect. San Fran could end up winning the division...possibly at 7-9.

Garrard isn't a good fit anywhere, he's not really that great of a passer (imo)

he could be successful on a team like the Steelers, ravens, or any other really dominant defense, where he could just play keep away, and not have to win games

but I'd still take Ty Detmer over Garrard

Harsh, man. Detmer was 5'9 with a noodle arm. Garrard is a big guy with a big arm and has a pretty decent QB ranking over the last few years.

I'd take Garrard over Alex Smith or Tavaris Jackson easily.

This year I'm not gonna even pretend the Bears have a shot. We have the makings of a great team but the organization is dicking around Matt Forte, Lance Briggs is being a bitch and demanding a renegotiation even though he just got one a few years back and the O Line is still total ass. Merriweather is an X Factor at best and Barber I suspect is at the ass end of his career and hasn't been the same since he played that whole season on a torn quad.

Not to mention the Packers looked fucking amazing last night. I just can't see how the Bears will be able to compete with them.

Last night's game was wild. Great fun.

The Chargers are going to miss Sproles more than they admit.

Rogers looked good, but Bree's looked better. If the Saint's could've stopped the run last night, they would've won that game.

I actually thought Rodgers looked better, but that may of had more to do with Brees' offensive line not protecting him at all. The Saints also couldn't run that well. Their short yardage running game is awful, which baffles me why they don't throw it on the last play of the game.

The Saints definitely upgraded from Reggie Bust by getting Sproles. They don't have to worry about Sproles missing games every year either. I actually don't think the Chargers will miss Sproles that much. That Todman kid they have is pretty damn good.

I thought I was watching a CFL game last night between all the returns, and passing

it was great

I loved the packers goal line stand, that was just classic Capers D

man, I still can't believe the steelers used to have Capers and Lebeau
love watching their defenses

I hate the new kickoff rule. The two TD returns were cool, but starting every return 7 yards in the endzone is not good for the game

I'd have to say I'd take Brees or Rogers over Manning or Brady right now. The scary thing is Rogers still has some room for improvement, but he's just the complete package.

Capers was weak in Carolina, and Lebeau sucked in Cinci. I'd say both are decent DCs, but I think Pittsburgh has a lot of good D coaches and a great scouting department. I'm hoping age catches up to them this year, because I really don't like the Steelers at all.

I'll be rooting for my hometown Chargers.. and my current hometown Browns.

darn right Suh is a beast. ^_^ i heart him.

josh's mom's side of the family is full of monster lions fans, so because i've never had any kind of NFL loyalty prior to dating him, i decided to go with the flow and start rooting for them. it got 1,000% easier to do so once they drafted Suh. yesterday's game was fun to watch! i certainly like that stafford kid.

I'll be surprised if Detroit doesn't make the playoffs. They have the whole package: good QB, good D, smart coach, and a lot of killer skill position players *hi2uMegatron*.

My other thoughts from this weekend:

Dallas is flaky and overrated. They play to the level of their competition. San Fran will win the NFC West. Sorry Arlos, they are very well coached. Carolina is fun to watch, but I think Cam is going to get hurt.

The Eagles should have beaten the Falcons, but Vick's size and playstyle will cause him to miss time. The Redskins are a paper tiger team. The Vikings and Bucs likewise are mediocre teams.

I hate the Patriots but Brady is still amazing. San Diego remains there own worst enemy. My poor bolts.

If you scroll up you will see me tell you that the lions were going to the playoffs this year. Its about god damned time that football stopped being a joke up here. The novelty of the lions winning still hasnt worn off and people are shocked when we win a game still.

Oh, I don't disagree about well coached. Harbaugh is an excellent coach. FINALLY a quality coach, the first one we've had since they ran Mariucci out of town.

The thing is, as a TEAM, they haven't learned how to win yet. So, they'll keep finding ways to lose until they do. I think they'll figure it out eventually, just not sure WHEN....
