2013 - 2014 NFL season

Postby Arlos » Sun Sep 08, 2013 6:20 pm

Some interesting results week 1 for sure.

Did ANYONE expect Manning to go THAT insane vs the Ravens?

The Jets winning made me laugh really hard.

If I were a Pats fan, I'd be really worried right now, given that they needed a last second FG to beat Buffalo of all sucky teams.

And, of course, how about them 49ers? 400+ yards for Kaepernick, > 200 yards for Boldin. Imagine that offense once we get Crabtree back... :)

Everyone else's thoughts?

Chiefs looked great vs. Jax, but I'm sure a lot of teams will so not taking too much from that. Still awesome to win a road opener vs anyone.

re: the Chargers - everyone plays tough in their home opener, except the jags.

Heck, the Chiefs almost beat the falcons last year on opening day at home and we were 2-14.

Chargers have one of the worst O-lines in football and I'm sure their subsequent games aren't going to be too close, especially this week vs the Eagles.

Honestly, best thing they could do is trade Phyllis Rivers to the Jags or something and go for Bridgewater or something in next year's draft and start over.

Dwayne Bowe is just KILLING my fantasy team, though. Ugh. Hasn't caused me a loss yet, but this week he caught 1 pass for 4 yards? WTF!

This season is going to be rough. We have no receivers worth dick, Brady is on his way out IMO. He's still great, but he isn't enough to carry entire games solo. This is a team game and we're not going to rebuild before he's done being hot shit.

So spoiled!

As a Chiefs fan I'd LOVE to have "rough" seasons where I end up somewhere around 11-5 and make the playoffs.

What's going on in 49er land Arlos? Besides the obvious that Boldin is not a playmaker at WR and without Crabtree/Davis the offense is pedestrian

I have a feeling Harbaugh is holding off on Kap using the option too much for te good of the rest of the season.

Yeah, especially if we can keep the defense rolling.

The problem now is Bowe, somehow he's just not a threat anymore. Of course the issue is Alex won't really take a chance giving him a 1-1 jump ball situation. All we have is Charles, McCluster and the TEs in the passing game.

7-0 is amazing though. We should be able to handle the Browns next week but I'm leery of that game @ Buffalo after that. They keep every game close and we may be looking ahead to @ Denver at that point.

Believe me, I'm aware of Bowe's struggles. He was an early round pick for me in my fantasy league. Lets just say he's not lived up to my expectations... rofl. I can't complain too much though, as I'm in 2nd place in the league, despite having a draft spot of next to last in the 1st round.

The 49ers seem to be back on track, at least. The Colts loss is looking a lot less problematic, considering how they've been playing since, including beating Denver yesterday. Not sure why the 49ers went away from the run game in those 2 losses, but they've definitely rediscovered it. We've got 0-7 Jacksonville in London this weekend, so that should put us at 6-2 heading into the bye week, with a game at Carolina after it. I am HOPING we can get Manningham or Crabtree back after the bye, too...

The Colts power ranking this week is #1 ahead simply because of the teams they have beaten. 49'rs, Seahawks, and Bronco's. The team can play the big game but then have downers when they play teams they should beat. The next half of the season will be interesting.

Cowboy's 1st place in the NFC East....woohoo!!

Supposedly God created us in his image. Problem is he made the rest of us flesh and bone and made Jay Cutler out of glass ><

Football is now dead to me like Basketball is.

When over-officiating and theatrics can determine the outcome of a game above athleticism, it's done.

The patriots have little hope of making it to the Superbowl anyways with our receiver situation as it is but, that's besides the point. That game was decided by 100% pure bullshit. Both teams were playing like shit and they were handed a win on a platter by a referee. You don't fight your way into overtime to lose it to an imaginary call. (New rule never called in any game this season against anyone, suddenly enforced in OT? That's bush league.)

hmm a quick google search for "patriots penalty" yields two different results

30-27 win by the patriots thanks in part to a blown holding call last week
30-27 loss by the patriots thanks in part to a brand new type of penalty this week

as a NE homer i assume you find that only the latter serves as evidence of poor officiating and "theatrics"?
