Pardo didn't invent this kind of game (which enthusiasts refer to as "massively multiplayer"); he merely perfected it.

I love it when people who know nothing about the topic do articles.

Don't get me wrong, I think its definately cool that he is all successful and all that junk, but the person who wrote the article pisses me off.

Ariel was really Surreal?

This dude Pardo is Ariel, so Pardo was Surreal? Pardo <sounds like> Parv, was there any link? coincidence? I think not.

Man I missed out on so much by not being LoS :ugh:

I dismiss that because they list Howard Stern as number 3 most influential...

I wonder if any of the Blizzard folks linger around these message boards. They're probably not allowed to post for some stupid reasons, but they could be around~ o_O

In those kind of Time articles, the word "influential" directly translates to cash dollars generated. Pardo is on there over say the VP of Everquest II because WoW currently boasts more subscribers.

Perfected? If it was perfect it'd still be interesting after a couple months. And Rain? Who the hell is that? This is a list for Asia isn't it?

Oh, Time magazine....no wonder....

Is that 6 million subscribers number right?

At $15 a month that's $90,000,000 a month...

...minus a few million for people who pay in 3 or 6 month figures or friends that get accounts for free or something.

In any case, that is some serious bank.

You're missing the 25 bucks Vivendi gets for each sale, too.

Anyways, I know Ariel since we were guilded together for a few months, but I doubt 99.9999% of the US, or even 3/4 of the Blizzard players have a clue who Rob Pardo is. Heck, 3/4 of the WOW subscriber base doesnt even speak English, and the WOW Forums certainly don't even have 2% of that 6 million active.

Hey, I just think it's cool as hell that a person I grouped with a few times in OS is written about in fucking Time magazine.

That's like, knowing the Dali Lama or something.

WoW is so addictive that among gamers, it's known by the nickname Warcrack

Way to take the EverCrack thing and randomly apply it to another game. Good job time magazine, I've never heard anyone say WarCrack.

Time magazine doesn't know its head from its ass.

I try reading it, I used to like it, but I've stopped the past few months. It turned into garbage...or my views changed.

I can belive he's on the list. Especially if he drives his employees the way he would to drive clerics in Old Seb. Doing disco with Ariel were some of the most draining times in my entire time playing eq.
