Blizzard given a release date by Vivendi

Postby Martrae » Mon Aug 02, 2004 8:36 am

That's the rumor at least.

The unofficial word is that Vivendi is hoping WoW will bail them out 4th quarter and has told Blizzard that final day for code changes will be September 16th with the game going gold October 16th.

Didn't say it was ready...said Vivendi was pushing them.

They have two months, and I believe they can get the game somewhat ready for release by then.

It will be 6 months post release before they get it tuned, but its not like its that far from being somewhat done. Plus, these things are never done

I think if they can get Talents sorted, then they can release the game. Then post release work on the other issues one at a time.

I'm seeing shades of SWG.

If Vivendi has issues, than they will sell their assets, which includes Blizzard.

WOW is safe, especially since it will be profitable.

Even if Vivendi sold Blizzrd, another investment company would snatch it up asap and fund the game.

Haha, imagine if SoE bought it.

Hopefully they'd have sense enough to add the Halfling race.

If Microsoft bought they would cancel Vanguard. They killed off Mythica when they made the deal with Sigil.

I hate SoE as much as the next guy (well maybe not) but for all the crap they pull, they still made the best MMORPG to date.
