This article argues that E1 construction will block Palestinians in Jerusalem from West Bank, but this argument is flawed because any notion that any portion of Jerusalem will ever be given to Palestine is laughable - it will never happen as it is a political suicide for any government. Because of this, the other arguments, while valid are not relevant.
The bottom line is this: E1 is Israel's territory and building on it is perfectly legal by all accords. Are they doing it to spite Abbas for his UN scheming - Yes they are; is it something that everyone needs to be up in arms about - No.
