Officials say Woodward snuck up on a Labor Day barbecue and opened fire at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2012.

that's what makes me mad about this case. it was an ambush! how can he not be convicted of first-degree murder? and the guy who didn't die suffered ELEVEN gunshots. what! :eyecrazy:

Unless my memory is inaccurate, isn't that two more shots than fiddy survived?

If only the number of shots you survived were directly proportional to the amount of success you enjoyed afterwards.

I was thinking about putting a couple caps in my leg in a non-vital spot, see if maybe a couple grand falls miraculously out of the sky.

funny. BUT, my point was: 11 shots seems REALLY excessive for a schmuck who wants to claim he was protecting himself from imminent threat or whatever.

The number of shots fired doesn't really surprise me -- most of the advice I've read on the matter regarding using a firearm in a life-or-death situation are on the order of "when in doubt, empty the magazine".

Which more or less makes sense to me -- if you feel your life is in imminent danger, to the point where you've committed to pulling the trigger, might as well fire until the gun is empty, especially if you have backup magazines, which most concealed carry holders do.

The other advantage, of course, is that dead attackers have a more difficult time suing you after the fact.
