Jacking with your W-4 after having a kid?

Postby Reynaldo » Mon Dec 23, 2013 2:12 pm

The obamacare thread reminded me of this since my policy went up about $130 bucks a month.

Right now I only claim 1 exemption as does my wife. I was considering bouncing it up to 4 since we had a kid (the math on the worksheet seems to come out to 4 if you claim everything your supposed to - unless I'm reading it way wrong).

Anyone else move their exemptions around at all after having families and if so, how much more money a month did you pocket and did you end up having to pay more taxes at the end of the year instead of getting a refund?

I've had mine at 4 for last 3 years. Get more each paycheck and have not seen much detriment to my tax returns
