You think Erick Erickson. and John Podhoretz are "Obama nut swingers"??

No, but I don't agree with every conservative either.

You only like what's popular. The same dudes you rallied for last time aren't even on Trump's side. Romney's attack was on the money

Wrong. Trump was my fave since before the first debate. It has absolutely nothing to do with his celebrity status or any populist crap. Trump's message resonates with me, to the core.

I'm embarrassed I voted for Romney in 2012. What a worthless shitbag he turned out to be (also Ted Cruz). :-( I'm actually becoming more and more anti-establishment myself, and now I recognize that Romney and Hillary, and a whole lot more politicians on both sides are part of the D.C. corruption. Fuck that good ol boy network, back room deals with wall st, secret hand shakes, etc.

But you're putting your trust in a person that solves problems with playground logic and speaks like he's that old. He's never done anything successful in his whole life. Bankrupts everything he touches. A new business every other day. Living off daddy's money. A man that holds grudges. Someone that won't honor NATO decisions. Calls Hillary a fraud but endorses a liar (Putin). A kid in a man's body. This guy will say whatever he needs to say to get your vote. It's depressing how well it's working. He doesn't have a plan or the means to accomplish anything he's promising you. I digress though, Arlos covered everything

That's awesome that you're becoming anti-establishment but does that justify being pro-idiot?

I don't know exactly how to respond to such an absurd statement like the one you just made. You're buying into the left-wing slander and exaggerations about Trump. What I can tell you is that Hillary has a verified history of corruption, irresponsible decision making (resulting in the deaths of many people), lying to us and congress (under oath), the list goes on and on. Top it off with left wing extremist viewpoints that will ultimately destroy America's soul.

I know Trump has a couple shortcomings, but every one of them pales in comparison to Hillary's shortcomings. I know many of you would prefer a socialist system. Rather than trying to transform America into something it was never meant to be... why don't you consider moving to a country who already has a socialist system? Finland, Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium... there's plenty to choose from, seriously.

Trump hasn't given a single detailed plan for anything he promises. he just claims it will be great and to "trust him". Bullshit. I should trust someone who refuses to pay people what they are owed? Who insults women, promotes racism (why do you think the KKK has been doing robocalls on his behalf?), insults people who disagree with him, bullies people, and is otherwise a terrible human being? Not to mention, almost every one of his proposals is blatantly unconstitutional. A religious test for people wanting to come to the country? Oh yes, I am sure Thomas Jefferson would have given his thumbs up to that!

Then, more recently, he point blank refused when asked to say that Putin should stay out of our election, then actually asked Russia to make a cyber attack on a political rival. Oh, and he has straight up said that the US won't abide by their NATO treaty obligations, and that he's willing to give the stamp of approval on Russia's annexation of Crimea. He has no idea how international diplomacy works, he has no idea how the economy works for anyone who isn't super rich, and he would in all ways be a complete and total unmitigated disaster.

And asking us to leave the country? Why don't YOU leave and go to somewhere that already practices despotism, since that's what you seem to want? Trump has no idea what is actually in the US Constitution, and he loves Russia. Go there. Get out of MY country.

Eh, I shouldn't have let myself get trolled. Oh well, I must now go commit honorable sudoku.

But here's a few other quotes from conservatives about the DNC convention:

Conservative writer Ron Fournier:

Well done, @realDonaldTrump. You made Democrats a party of sunny patriotism and values.

You sure @billclinton didn't ask you to run?

— Ron Fournier (@ron_fournier) July 29, 2016

National Review editor Jonah Goldberg:

Why this convention is better: It's about loving America. GOP convention was about loving Trump. If you didn't love Trump, it offered nada.

— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) July 29, 2016

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld:

if repubs had championed their principles with specifics rather than embrace autocracy - they wouldn't have yielded this turf to dems.

— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld) July 29, 2016

Conservative blogger Erick Erickson:

For Republicans who are not social conservatives, I have to imagine last night and tonight at the DNC are having an impact on them.

— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) July 29, 2016

Conservative Iowa radio host Steve Deace:

So most of conservative media and the GOP spent the week rooting for Russia, and now the Democrats get to rally around the flag.

Dreadful.

— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) July 29, 2016

Conservative Wisconsin radio host Charlie Sykes:

Snark aside: GOP needs to understand what is happening to them tonight…

— Charlie Sykes (@SykesCharlie) July 29, 2016

Do you know how old I am? Old enough to remember when speeches like this would've been given at GOP convention… Not Dem one. Brutal.

— Charlie Sykes (@SykesCharlie) July 29, 2016

Rich Galen, press secretary for Dick Cheney:

How can it be that I am standing at my kitchen counter sobbing because of the messages being driven at the DNC? Where has the GOP gone?

— Rich Galen (@richgalen) July 29, 2016

Conservative ops veteran Matt Mackowiak

This Democratic convention has been an unmitigated disaster for the GOP. Very well produced. Unifying. Patriotic. Bravo.#DNCinPHL

— Matt Mackowiak (@MattMackowiak) July 29, 2016

Amanda Carpenter, former spokeswoman for Sen. Ted Cruz:

I am sure hearing a lot more about God and faith at the DNC than the RNC.

— Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) July 28, 2016

Conservative blogger AGConservative:

Still stunned. Feel like I'm in the twilight zone. Obama just defended America & conservative values from attacks by the Republican nominee.

— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) July 28, 2016

Commentary editor Noah Rothman:

Republicans could have stopped all this.

— Noah Rothman (@NoahCRothman) July 29, 2016

Daily Caller Writer Jamie Weinstein:

Now an immigrant medal of honor winner? If the goal is to reach independents and conservatives uneasy w/ Trump, well done Democrats

— Jamie Weinstein (@Jamie_Weinstein) July 29, 2016

But all of those people must be Obama nut huggers, I guess.

Oh, and Ann Coulter reached a new low, which I didn't think was possible, when she said the following about the father of a Marine that gave his life to save his comrades in Iraq:
Ann Coulter Verified account
‏@AnnCoulter

You know what this convention really needed? An angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria.

I don't even have words for that one.

Hilarious!

You need to think for yourself Arlos. Don't let the agenda-driven leftist media lead you around like a blind little sheep. You've given me so much ammo with your humorous little diatribe that I don't even know where to begin...

I''ll start with this precious gem:

Trump hasn't given a single detailed plan for anything he promises.

Nice liberal talking point I've heard ad nauseum by lefties for several days now.
I'll just direct you to http://www.donaldjtrump.com. There you will find ample details to his plans.

You want to call Trump a despot? Hillary and Barack are the textbook definitions of despotism. That's the whole mantra of the DNC brown shirts... absolute control of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. Please, I'm begging you... pull your head out of the sand, thx.

The KKK eh? Ah yes... why don't you Google the KKK and educate yourself on who exactly they are, who their leadership is, and who was backing them FROM THE BEGINNING, then get back to me. :-)

About Putin, yes Trump would be better with U.S.-Russia relations. Trump should be flattered that Putin views Trump as a strong leader. Hillary is weak. Putin knows this and has no respect for her. Trust Hillary with the nuclear codes? OH FUCK NO.

As far as moving out of the country... again, Fuck no. I'll stick with the party who is continuing on with what the framers of America worked so far for. Fuck socialism.

That's really the most frustrating part of this election is that neither candidate really stands for anything.

Both sides are just "We must not let the other side win" rather than actually having a platform.

To be fair, candidates never really stand for anything but the few wedge issues that'll allow them to raise money from the sheeples. They are going to steal your gunz! It's a war on womenz! Those evil Mexicans will take your jobs! Free trade is making you poor! It's all bullshit.

That was amusing, but did you mean to say that or Seppuku?

Please carry on with the political discussions. I have zero desire to even watch the coverage as I loathe both candidates. This is the first year I'll vote third party for Prez.

Trump update 7-30-16... he tweeted:

I turned down a meeting with Charles and David Koch. Much better for them to meet with the puppets of politics, they will do much better!

I hope there's no doubt in anybody's mind that Trump is NOT in bed with Wall Street, OR billionaires who control politicians. Seriously, Trump is more closely aligned with Bernie than Hillary is to Bernie. No matter which party you're closest aligned to you gotta admit that it's pretty cool Trump basically told the Koch brothers to go fuck themselves. :boots:

not entirely true. the kochs decided not to seek a meeting with trump and endorsed clinton instead. all he did was twist it around, like he did to john oliver when he said he turned down an invitation to be on last week tonight - no such invitation was made

that being said, true to your broken clock form, i do actually appreciate that he is not in cahoots with the kochs, and it worries me that they've gone clintonite

And what do you have to say about Trump insulting that family that made the ultimate sacrifice for this country? Is insulting the parents of a man who gave his life for this country not going to far? How can you support him after that? That was revolting, and utterly reprehensible. That is seriously a new low, and one of the most disgusting things any presidential candidate has ever done. If you continue to support him, it's obvious you have no respect for our military or veterans. This is, after all, the second time he's insulted people who bore immense personal sacrifice in defense of this nation. Remember him insulting McCain for "getting captured" earlier on? Trump has no sense of decency whatsoever. How can a man that insults the families of fallen soldiers be fit to be commander in chief?

Also: if we wanted to read Trump's tweets, we would go on his twitter and read them. Speak for yourself, instead of just quoting someone else. You don't see us posting Hillary or Obama tweets, do you?

I feel bad for Mr. and Mrs. Khan, not only from the standpoint of having lost their beloved son, but because they don't even realize that the DNC"s wicked, heartless, shameful Hillary machine is using them as pawns in their stupid game. Also, with all due respect to the Khan's, they are missing the point of Trump's plan. It is NOT an attack on Islam.

no shit. i don't even post bernie tweets, despite devoting countless hours canvassing and phonebanking, overcoming my fear of public speaking in order to address nearly a thousand people gathered in a ballroom, and raising several thousand earth dollars to facilitate traveling to philly to support his campaign at the DNC.

Actually, yes, it IS an attack on Islam, and is DEFINITELY viewed as such in Islamic countries. It is ludicrous to claim it's not, because that is exactly what he and all of his cronies have been saying. Even if we were in some bizarro fantasy realm where that wasn't true, Mr. Khan's point still stands: that under Trump he wouldn't be in this country, as he emigrated from Pakistan, one of those "Countries compromised by terrorism" or whatever the current euphemism Trump is using this week to attempt to mask the naked bigotry.

And Mr. Khan is by no means a pawn. He was offered the assistance of a speechwriter, and turned it down. He's not even a registered Democrat. He just was tired about people of his faith being unfairly demonized by Trump and the rest of the GOP. That's all we've heard this election cycle: FEAR THE MUSLIMS! THEY ARE COMING TO KILL YOU ALL! It's sickening, and I applaud him for standing up to it and denouncing it, because it IS un-American to denounce people simply for their religious faith, or have any sort of religious test for entry into the country. He was very eloquent in making that point, in a very short set of remarks.

Did you even read McCain's comments on this? http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/01/politics/ ... index.html if you haven't. (there is no CNN commentary in that, it is simply McCain's statement in its entirety.)

Regardless, rational politicians who disagreed might have put out a statement to the effect of, "I honor their family for their sacrifice and their courage to stand up in front of such a large audience to voice their beliefs. While I do respectfully disagree with what they said, I would be happy to meet with them in person to discuss it with them if they so wish." But no, Trump did what he always does: he attacked them and attempted to bully them into silence. It just hasn't worked this time, finally. Trump has gotten away with insulting women, LGBT people, the disabled, and even one war hero in McCain. But insulting the parents of a man that gave his life to save his unit, and then suggest his mother wasn't ALLOWED to speak finally seems to have gone a step too far. Trump is in no way fit to be commander in chief if he is going to be attacking the families of the fallen. Utterly revolting. What is perhaps even more revolting is his suggestion that he has sacrificed anything like what that family has. He sacrificed by building new luxury hotels and apartments? Pull the other one.

More outright lies from the Trump campaign...

From multiple reports, including delegates who were in the room as the GOP made up its platform this year, the one issue the Trump campaign absolutely insisted on was removing the existing language about supporting lethal weapon aid to Ukraine to help fight the Russian backed "rebels" in the east of the country. They didn't care about anything else at all, just that one item. This is interesting, because Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager, worked for years as the main political consultant for the previous President of Ukraine, the Putin puppet that was ousted a few years back, which spurred Russia into annexing Crimea and sponsoring the "rebels". Yet despite multiple reporters and actual delegates confirming the story, Manafort went on TV and said, "Nope! Wasn't the Trump campaign. We had nothing to do with it!"

Now, lying is one thing, but stupid lying, where it's easy to prove you're talking out your ass is something else entirely. Also, we have a candidate who praises Putin at every opportunity, and has in the past claimed to know him really well and be friends. This candidate employs someone who worked in a senior capacity for a Putin puppet for years. This candidate also recently said that Putin wouldn't go into Ukraine, even though he's already there. This same candidate also broadly suggested that he'd recognize the annexation of Crimea as legitimate. Furthermore, this same candidate openly invited Russia to interfere in the US election, and commit a cyber attack on a political opponent. Oh, and he also refuses to release his tax returns, meaning he's hiding something. Gosh, I wonder why I (and just about everyone else) think what he's hiding is extensive ties to Russia? (plus the obvious other possibilities: he really isn't worth anything close to what he claims, he doesn't donate anywhere near as much to charity as he's claimed, etc.)

I continue to be amazed that this man is the nominee for one of the major political parties in this country. The GOP may be going the way of the Whig party, it seems

More on those Russian + Ukrainian puppet regime ties with Manafort, Gates, and others:

First this story came out, about Manafort & Gates directing lobbying efforts to the US government on behalf of Yanukovyich, for 2.2 million, and without them filing the necessary disclosure papers indicating that they were working for a foreign government. (a requirement since just before WWII when we were worried about the Nazis trying to lobby and influence here): http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/ ... TE=DEFAULT

Predictably, everyone denied everything,m claimed they hadn't done anything wrong, Manafort and Gates hadn't directed anything, etc. Well, the AP got emails showing they were lying out their asses: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/ ... TE=DEFAULT

So, we have Trump spending significant time praising Putin. In the past, Trump repeatedly asserted that he was good friends with Putin, after meeting before some TV show they were both on. We have the people who were the key leaders in his campaign until like a day ago that directly worked for Putin's puppet, Yanukovyich, and lied about it. There are also the multiple reports about the negotiations for the GOP platform at the convention, where the ONLY thing Trump representatives cared about was taking out the plank supporting providing lethal military aid to Ukraine. We have Trump firstly claiming Russia would never go invade Ukraine, even though they already had. He amended that to say they wouldn't go past Crimea, but they are also in the eastern part of the country supporting the "rebels". He hinted he'd recognize the aforementioned annexation as legitimate, which would be a complete reversal of policy, and mean lifting of sanctions. Furthermore, Trump has suggested he wouldn't abide by NATO treaties, and wouldn't defend members like Lithuania, etc. Then there's the Russian hack of the DNC and their passing of the emails to Wikileaks, along with Trump inviting Russia to hack Hillary Clinton and interfere in the election.

Oh, one other new development:Trump's daughter was just vacationing with Putin's girlfriend, who happens to also be Roger Ailes' ex-wife. http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in ... girlfriend

Add in his baseless refusal to publish his tax returns, and we have a rather large mountain of evidence pointing all in the same direction: Trump gets shitloads of money from Putin & Russian oligarchs, and they're bound at the hip. How much does Trump owe them in favors and cash-wise? What is he being promised in return for letting Russia do whatever it wants on the world stage? In any case, if you really want Putin to be running the US by proxy, then by all means, vote for Trump...
