I consider myself more of a moderate leaning on liberal.

I have to wonder if Mindia has retreated to his End Times bunker at this point. Been a rough couple weeks for him. I mean:

1) Pope says Catholics have to treat Global Warming as real and help fight to stop it, AND decried unfettered capitalism.

2) Obamacare upheld

3) Same Sex Marriage now a Constitutional right, requiring an amendment to get rid of that will never happen.

I think they both lost unfortunately. I have still only purchased maybe 12 blu rays. We rent and stream most of our video content as does a majority of the population.

At least vinyl sales are ramping up again after all these years.

Arlos, check your local news for any truckers in the Sac/Folsom area who set themselves on fire.

Haha funny stuff in this thread. I'd argue that we are in end times of sorts and our financial system is of concern, but I'm not gonna retreat to any bunker. It's true I am saddened and sickened by the downward spiral America has been in for the last couple of years. Hitlery is a joke and I shudder at the mere thought of her becoming prez. I read ALL about Bernie Sanders, and I looked at his voting record, and all I have to say about him is that he can fuck right the fuck off. Perhaps he'd feel more comfortable in Russia. So far, I will be voting for Trump, but ONLY if he runs on the Republican ticket. If he goes Independent, I will vote for whoever on the Republican side has the best chance at beating the hildecunt.

Actually, Mindia, I am pretty curious as to what your reaction was to the Pope's encyclical about climate change being real and man-made and unfettered capitalism being against Catholic values.

Hi Arlos, how've u been? Tbqh, I give zero fucks about what the pope says. He's just another man to me, although I'd say he's a "good" man... I mean he's certainly not "evil" right? Right now I'm more concerned about border security, Iran, Isis, and our National debt. Regionally, I'm appalled that we're going through with this stupid ass bullet train, which the voters approved a couple years ago. We could take that money and build a couple new reservoirs, and a desalination plant (primarily) for the farmers in central Cali, and solve California's water crisis. Desal plants cost a fuckton of money and power to run, but the money for the unnecessary bullet train would fund it just fine.

I know how you feel and think Alex. Your thoughts and feelings echo 99.999999% of the NT, and for that reason, I didn't see any reason to really stick around here. Seems the only thing we have in common is we like gaming. lol I lurk from time to time, but my name came up a few times recently so I thought I'd actually log in and say hello. Hillary makes me angry... extremely angry. So, I let the juvenile side of me take over. It's kind of fun.

Alex, a couple years ago you mentioned you were toying with the possibility of running for some local political office in Nebraska. What happened with that? Are you still pursuing it?

That senile old socialist doesn't have a shot in hell at the presidency. He's small potatoes and isn't going anywhere but out the door. It's gonna come down to Trump vs. Hillary, or Bush vs. Hillary if Trump runs independent.

i had the filing papers filled out and everything, but after a friendly conversation with the democratic candidate i decided it would be a waste of time and energy.

i could've run as a dem and enjoyed support from the local/state dems, or i could've run as an independent (or green) and done everything myself - i did have a small squad of hard-working folks i met through Occupy who said they'd volunteer... but either way, only two people advance to the general election.

since our unicameral state legislature is officially nonpartisan, it would technically be possible for both me and kyle (the dem guy) to edge out the incumbent republican in the open primary, but it would require us both to siphon off enough of the moderate republican voter bloc to do it. if we could've pulled that off, dang - the run-up to the regular election would've been a pretty entertaining and nuanced discussion of progressive policy beyond the usual OUR TEAM GOOD THEIR TEAM BAD stuff! unfortunately the reality was that with my hard-left views i'd only siphon votes off of the left end anyway, making the whole thing moot.

tragically, kyle's mom became extremely ill and passed away during the months leading up to the general election, so he didn't get to do much campaigning and the final results weren't even close. what a shitty way to lose ;\

someday i'd like to take a real shot at state legislature, but as i've learned more and more about the intricacies of nebraska politics i don't think i have quite enough credibility yet. i'll wait until i own a home and have a few years of teaching under my belt before considering it.

Sorry to hear about Kyle's mom. :-( Kudos to you for giving it an honest go. Sad how the only successful politicians we have come from a money background, and the underdog has to rely on self, family, and friends to get their campaign off the ground and keep it running.
