I was flipping through the channels a while back and on that one music channel, cant think of the name right off, but they show mostly just concerts and stuff in HD all day, and it was a concert of Pearl Jam. They would be a lot cooler if he would shut the fuck up about politics and the preaching about it in between sings. And it didnt help that the channel kept showing interviews with him every couple songs, that he goes on babbling about all the stuff hes done in the past years about it. Just play the fucking music. I paid to see music, not watch you look like a douche bag and telling everyone how bad the war is, or Bush, or whatever. I think Green Day takes he cake as the biggest tools ever on this note~

the basis for my comparison is that both of them:

1. showed up late to a movement
2. weren't "there" when it all started
3. spread their own version of "the message" that didn't quite line up with the original
4. were outsiders (vedder from illinois by way of california, paul from damascus)
5. nevertheless achieved massive fame and respect for their work
6. eventually became as popular (if not more so) than those who were "there" and started it all
7. revered as a saint by those interested in such things, largely ignored by those that aren't
8. changed their names (Edward Louis Severson III -> Eddie Vedder, and Saul -> Paul)
9. too preachy ;\
