This has happened SIX TIMES now... Since I started going with complete strangers to instances, it seems like it's an every day occurance. People are so used to hitting the dice icon to roll, they don't even look at the item. Yesterday, a warrior won a kickass cloth helm. Earlier that day, a rogue won a 15int/8spirit necklace. They don't look.

When I group with friends, we put it on round-robin. If a green item drops, the person that looted the corpse gets it... unless someone speaks up with a, "whoah, I'll roll on that..." or something similar. When a blue item drops that nobody needs, we all roll on it for AH. Easy system.

Taxx and I have grouped with new people, and they always seem to want FFA. And then, they always roll on every fucking item that drops. Yesterday, after losing out on a cloth robe, cloth legs and an assload of gems... I had the chance to 'roll' on a blue dagger. The highest roll was a 32 and I was the only person that still needed to roll. I asked the group if anyone needed it, and the warrior that won all that shit (and like, 5 gems...) said that he'd definitely use it because it's a huge upgrade. So, I passed on it and he got it. The rest of the instance, he never swapped to daggers... until the very end when we did an escort quest with super-easy mobs to kill. He said in group, "this dagger is great, up to 40 skill now." So... I gave him a fairly nice dagger so he could skill up in it. And later, he'll go auction all his shit for another 10g.

This isn't the EQ mindset that I'm used to. If something drops, people should say that they need it... and they get it. If two people want it, they roll. I saw a mage get a KICK ASS dagger, even after the rogue in the group linked us his ghetto green dagger 10 levels old. People are way more cut-throat in this game =/.

The MMO crowd has gone from suck to blow since early EQ. The games are better, and the people much worse....

Since you guys don't know the story behind why this is so funny...Last night we did Sunken Temple. Vonkaar rolled on both Eranikus loot's (axe and mail helm) without looking. IRONIC!

hahaha.

Tikker, the same is pretty much true in EQ2, unfortunately. It doesn't help the server we're playing on is loaded with Dragon Clan and other Azn nerdfolk.

I wasn't looking and I meant to hit the X to cancel out of both rolling screens really quick... and I ended up rolling on both. It ended well because everyone got to make fun of me and I cried.

It happens. I've done it once or twice.

You see something pop up you know you don't need/want, and you go to click cancel real quick, and you end up clicking the dice by accident. Most of the time it's np because whatever it was didn't bind on pick up, and you can rectify the mistake easily, but in the rare case where it bind on pick up... well, that just sucks.

The tiles should be on opposite sides of the pop-up, or spaced apart further, or something...

This is the truest thing about WoW. The game really feels like a single player console game b/c most of the people you meet you'll never see or hear from again. I can play for about an hour or two before I get bored of soloing and then I log. I'm hoping that will change when everyone starts reaching lvl 60...we shall see.

you started to see the same thing in EQ when LDoN started

people would suddenly be lvl 60, 0r 65 or whatever, and you'd never heard of them

instancing is a neat idea, but at the same time, long term it's bad

competition was the reason for EQ's success

Let me give you a very simple solution

GROUP LEADER PUT IN ON ROUND ROBIN ROLLING ON ANY GREEN DROPS OR ABOVE.

Tell your group NBG when you start up, that is the way you run your groups period. If a dagger drops, the warrior shouldnt have a chance if he obviously doesnt use daggers.

Im talking about setting down loot rules in stone before the grouping begins. How hard is that to understand?

The thing that sucks about "If you can use it roll on it" is some classes have a lot more oprtions than others. A warrior can use pretty much every weapon and armor type vs. a rogue who has leather and a few weapons.
"Liberals believe government should take people's earnings to give to poor people. Conservatives disagree. They think government should confiscate people's earnings and give them to farmers and insolvent banks. The compelling issue to both conservatives and liberals is not whether it is legitimate for government to confiscate one's property to give to another, the debate is over the disposition of the pillage."
