Postby Tae-Bo » Tue Jun 12, 2007 3:31 pm

i dislocated it on saturday for the 2nd time in 4 months.. i've dislocated it now for a total of 5 times. i'm prolly gonna have to end up getting surgery again, and i won't be able to do bjj or judo for at least 6 months.

this is a buncha bs. what should i do.

How's your nutrition? You seem kinda fragile. Not saying you aren't tough but you seem to break easy.

Consider giving up MMA. Seriously.

my nutrition is top notch. im majoring in nutrition and it's pretty much flawless.

in the past 7 months i've: gotten inflamed rib cartilage, developed IT band syndrome, gotten shoulder tendonitis, gotten bruised kidneys, and dislocated my shoulder twice. not too bad considering i trained almost 3 hours a night 6 days a week.

i dunno what it is, i'm insanely flexible (double jointed everywhere, can put my foot behind my head, etc) and that might have something to do with lax tendons or whatever. but it also helps me in other areas.

grappling is my main form of creative expression :(

i.e. i'm a super kinesthetic person... i'm more comfortable with touch and movement than i am doing anything else... i'd be lost without grappling :(

You are still young and your body is taking a serious beating. I'd seriously consider finding a new outlet. Tai Chi perhaps?

I think having to stop practice because of your repeated injuries is just earning stripes towards your MMA career. Best thing to do I guess is to just live through it and hope that its healed back stronger than before.

my shoulder has been dislocated three times in a year and if it happens again I might just cut it off.

IT band stuff you need to just rest it and stretch the actual band.

Shoulder wise, I might step awayfrom the plyo for a bit and focus on a lighter full body work out that isnt power movement based. From and start adding in rotator cuff stuff to help out the joint str.

My suggestion is to try to stop being a huge pussy. And no, grappling other men doesn't make you tough, sorry.

yeah luckily my it syndrome went away after i started heavily stretching everyday

i'm done practicing bjj until after i get surgery... i'm sick of this shit dislocating. my main form of exercising is gonna be hardcore swimming now and yoga. basically this shit sucks. i'm gonna use this an opportunity to drop a weight class though and try to shrink my muscles so i'm not so bulky and more leaned out and sexy. although it is hard to imagine myself any sexier than i already am.

Anything proactive you can do for this? I dislocated my shoulder once in high school playing football and it was wrapped and immobile for a good duration. I also had PT and it's never bothered me sense.

Its either the method of your grappling that causes this, or that you aren't giving yourself enough time to heal.

I'd get a specialist doctor's opinion and allow yourself time to heal. You may feel invincible now, but 10 years from now if you keep at this pace, you'll lose a lot of functionality in your arm.

it's just the nature of the injury, the labrum that holds the joint in place is lax and tbh i've been grappling while i should be waiting for surgery. i've had surgery on it before but it loosened up over time. i'm not gonna practice again until after i've had surgery.

my dad is building a pool in his house that's some shit straight outta cribs. huge rock wall full of boulders and waterfalls and shit, a poolhouse, and on one of the waterfalls you can swim underneath it and get to grotto with a little bench carved out of the rock. that's like insta-head when i bring a girl over. i told him he needs to start going on vacation more cus i need that shit.
