Artistry/Provisioner questions

Postby Narrock » Thu Mar 03, 2005 4:07 pm

Since player-made water is like liquid KEI I have decided that I'd like to become a "Provisioner." Do I need to be a certain level before I can start increasing my "making provisions" skill? I'm level 17 now, and I don't know how to go about doing this. Do I need to buy components to use the keg and other equipment? I went into the basement behind the Ironforge Estate in N. Qeynos to try it out, but I didn't understand how to operate the machinery.

Try searching google for any EQ2 artisan tutorials.

Even you should be able to figure it out.

I'm hoping you mean level 17 adventurer and not craftsman.

Yeah, I finally figured it out. Thanks. Some components must be foraged/gathered, and cannot be bought from a merchant. But some things like bread and pasta can be made with materials purchased from the merchant. It's just another time sink / learning curve frustrating aspect to EQ2...

1. Artisan levels increase seperate from adventuring levels.
2. Fishing, Trapping, Gathering are your primary sources of componants.
3. Use food appropriate for your level range.

I dont make food but I use it. I am currently using 3 hour level 30 food and drink, high satiation. It's blue to me but it lasts for almost a whole gaming session, it only cost me 3 gold for half a stack, so I am not complaining. I can make back the 3 gold in about the time it takes to use 1 food and 1 drink.

With the recent changes provisioners are the money makers, hands down. If I were to start crafting it would probably be provisioner or armor smith.

I'm starting to get the hang of it. Yes, you do have to forage raw components via gathering, foresting, mining, and trapping. When it gets tricky is when you have to make 1 component (which cannot be foraged or bought) out of the 3 required to make something else. Current Artistry skill is at 9, and that was after about 6 hours of nonstop utilization of the stove and oven. I heard that you need a minimum Artistry level of 30 to make the ownage "kei-type" drinks.

Getting up your harvesting skills will help when you reach TS and try some of the quests there.

Gathering, Foresting, Mining, Trapping, Swimming, and Fishing are all maxed out at my current level of 17. The skills are all maxed out at 86 right now.

You need at least 90 before you can harvest TS. :)

Just an fyi, if you didnt know it, only the primary ingredient (first one on list) needs to be the best quality in orde to have the chance to make the best (pristine for example) item.

And right now carpenters can use a crude item there and still get a pristine final product.
