EQ2-I can finally try it

Postby Ouchyfish » Thu Jan 05, 2006 10:19 pm

I finally have a system capable of playing it and have been dabbling with the Trial of the Isle demo and have to admit I love the Norrath references and the nostalgic feeling it brings. Can anyone offer a quick answer on if it's worth it to give it a go?

Unlike 99% of the folks on this board, I am not the pro-raid, pro-guild persuasion and am really just looking for what EQ was about 4-5 years ago. Grouping, socializing, not treating the game like a friggin rl life-or-death occupation, etc.

Warcraft can be fun but more often than not is so boring and repetitive that it gets old quick.

Thanks in advance.

EQ2 is exactly what youre looking for, given what you said. Lots of low and mid level content. EQ2 is coming along fantastically, it was pretty fucked at launch, but I find it an immensely satisfying game now for the most part.

Make sure you go to a populated server though. I was playing on a low population server and it sucked. Moved to Antonia Bayle and things are much much better.

I thought eq2's launch was pretty damn smooth. Really smooth if my memory serves me correctly.

Now if you want an example of a fucked up clusterfuck of a launch I would look to tigole and those cocksnacks over at blizzard. WoW was a fucking nightmare for the first year.
Tossica: No, you're gay because you suck on cocks.

Yeah the launch in and of itself was smooth. I just meant the state of the game. Classes had to be thoroughly reworked, rebalanced, that sort of thing. Much funner game now to play. Devs work very hard on EQ2 and its showing.

EQ2 is a lot of fun, I just might start up my own subscription this week myself.

Upgraded my video card and have a tiny bit more free time than I did before...It's tempting...

Hmm, I have All Access but Highkeep is dead. I may move to Antonia Bayle and give it a shot there.

Yeah I was on Blackburrow, and the deserted feeling just sucked. AB has a real healthy population, especially on the Qeynos side. But even the FP side population isnt shabby at all.

Highkeep is not dead. I enjoy myself immensely there.

I would too, if I played once a year and lived with my EQ2 groupmates.

Such is not the case.

read my response to Lyion's other post. Lavastorm is decently populated on the Qeynos side at least and you can see the tamer me playing on occasion. (by tamer I mean Xaasf died and I am generally kind to all)

You played once a year. I play almost everyday. :P

You also never bothered to get to know anyone in the guild. Or any other guild for that matter.

Played EQ2. Played both for a bit. Quit both for a bit. Played WoW for a month. Got bored. Started up EQ2 again.

SWG got gutted...never went back.

I'm 49 and I play almost every evening from 9-12.

Thought you were doing the CoV thing now.

I have to agree, it was probably the smoothest launch I've seen yet. They still mess things up Sony style but all in all it's a decent game now.

My COV account ran out and I hit level 40. I'm taking a break as the friends I was playing with level very slowly.

I can't group with you anyways, and when I was screwing around on my Ranger, I was stuck soloing nonstop. Zzzzz
