Diffucilty Rating of EQ

Postby Jeddas » Sat Aug 14, 2004 8:26 am

I just wanted to hear various opinions on the way that EQ is has been 'redesigned' with its difficulty.

I personally loved the old days where it took skill to get to a high level, it took time yes, but you could still get things acomplished in shorter amounts of time (even raids). Hell levels were a nice design flaw. Having it actually mean something to be on the high end. Now you dont ask what lv someones character is, you ask how many AA they have, or you look for a guild tag.

However nice some things are (like temperance at any level, and newbie creatures that drop more loot then what drops in the overthere) I find that I still strongly prefered 'harder' EQ.

People being able to get characters to 60 in /played 3 days back then, think you could do it faster now?

PS. Walking >> PoK. Luclin portals were ok cause of their limitations. But now you cant even get to the new continent of taelosia without going thru a magus (sorta like D2). Takes the worldly feeling away. Of course that fell apart when they stoped designing with sence (luclin). You would zone through looking at a tree and still see that tree when you came through, not going from an tight hall to an open room.
