You can scale back some of the graphics settings (clip plane, effects, etc) just like in EQ. It might not be as pretty, but as Taxx said, you'll definitely be able to play the game.

My EQ account is still active but I have not played for a long time. If you want to play some new chars for a bit together maybe I will actually have enough fun to not cancel my account as I've been contemplating

If you can play EQ, then you can play EQ2, as well. Same as WOW, just turn down the settings.

I have to disagree. I had tons of video lag during big fights, Fraps told me 2.0 FPS.

I still have an active account but haven't logged in much lately.

I guess you could say I'm on hiatus.

not necessarily true about playing eq you can play eq2....

my other computer my 1.9 could play eq, and still can.... but i loaded the beta on to it and it wouldnt work on that computer... its best to check the minimums to be sure on the eq2 site. if thats the game you want to play. As far as wow, i can play that on that same computer.

1.9 is fine for EQ2.

It's not the processor that prevented you from playing.

Then your computer is fucked up. I played with a 1.5 P4 512 w/ a 4200 with a full group in a heavy area and didnt lag at all.

Did you have shadows on or anything else that would be resource intensive?

Again, if you can play EQ fine, you can play EQ2 fine. EQ2 is very configurable.

I'm the type of person who likes to play games with graphics not minimized, if i have to minimize settings i wont play a game, EQ i played with max settings, all the new models on etc. Wow I do the same. I obviously cant do the same with eq2.

Whats the point of having all that technology in a game when you cant see it.

I'm just telling you how it ran. My computer is far from fucked up since I routinely out-benchmark computers that are specced way higher than mine. I have no business getting the 3DMark scores that I get off this machine.

Because as you upgrade your PC, it'll look better.

I play EQ2 at pretty high settings, and its looks amazing.

Even at lower settings, it looks better than any MMO out there.

I play still. 62 Shadowknight. I play evenings when I am not in class or not with gf... so i usually play 1 or max 2 nights a week - unless it's just a dead week.

Because as technology advances it will ALWAYS look good...as there is no computer out there commercially that can run it maxed out 100%.

WoW I can play maxed out with my geforce3ti500. Needless to say, EQ2 will always look better than WoW....just because you can't run it maxed out you dont blame the game. That's ridiculous.

i can run eq2, just at lower settings on my 2.66 with 128 vid card etc. at lower settings graphics are not impressive. plus lag, frame rate etc doesnt make it fun to play at a visually pleasant level.

I do play games moreso for content, but i find it silly that i have to upgrade a new computer by spending hundreds when graphics should be able to run on my newest machine, which is far from lacking, considering it can play everygame but eq2 at high graphic range.

I dont blame the game as such, but i know there will be people out there who get the game thinking it will run nicely on their machines and expect same graphics as pictures they see. And will be disappointed in knowing they will have to dish out bucks to see the game how it should be seen.

I just feel people should make sure their computer will be able to run the game at the level they want to see it, before they buy them. no matter which game it is.
If they cant afford to upgrade, and they get choppy video, then they are sol.

p.s. i know some people wont play wow because they feel it looks to cartoon like for their taste... and thats oki too. its all a matter of preference.
