I am interested in a possible return to Everquest and would like some information. A lot of people suggest Wow or EQ2, but EQ has a very special place in my heart and I would like to go back to the old places. I know the game will never be the same as it was 5 years ago and that it seems to get worse, but I really do miss it.

Are there any MMORPGs out there that even faintly resemble old EQ? WoW seemed nice but just not the same 2000 EQ feel to it. EQ2 requires more than my system can muster.

All I require from a MMORPG is a game similar to WoW with the old "we're in this together" attitude of 2000 EQ lowbies. Any such beast exist today?

Nope. Nothing at all.

All the current games out are super dumbed down versions of EQ like WoW or in a weird state of confusion about which direction they want to go like EQ2.

If SOE decides what way to go with it and stop pussyfooting around EQ2 could become that game. The recent removal of travel restrictions and locked encounters is a step in the right direction, and they are increasing the group content as well.
