LoS is alive and able, but after a literal year-long slump of rebuilding, rerecruiting, reflagging and regearing the influx of new members (you can count on 2 hands the amount of folks who have been there longer than a year), we're even behind Euphoria now progression-wise, even though they're still behind us when you look at where we were a year ago :p It's not just the people you lose when there is a mass-exodus of guild members...it's the gear, the experience and skill, the "knit" of personalities that work well together in a game like EQ, and the flags to even raid the areas you were progessing on in the first place, and that shit takes heaps of time to rebuild through.

It's been really rough and there's alot of bitterness. The old-school members who still frequent the boards are, like much of you here at NT, disgusted with the way today's LoS has slipped. You just have to accept that LoS is second-fiddle and will probably never be the dominating force on the Nameless again. Sad? Ya, very.

Btw, I'm all ears to anyone listing some names of Remedy, Euphoria, Crimson Tempest, Fires of Heaven, Triton, Afterlife (and yes I realize some of these guilds don't even exist anymore) folks who have more than 10% of their roster that were there during Velious...indulge me. To single out LoS, implying we should disband because the core members aren't there anymore is ignorant.

p.s. Taxx is right, no one here would or does care anymore anyway (perhaps Sandi, but she's odd~)

Fires of Heaven and Afterlife left EQ when WOW came out, and are doing qutie well there. Afterlife was in the top 20-25 to kill Kel Thuzad and finish off Naxx, not sure about FOH as I haven't followed them much of late. As for roster continuity, I have no idea.

Also, you misunderstandn the old members. We're not saying LOS should disband because you don't still have the same members from velious. We're saying you should at LEAST change the guild name, if not disband, because you've become a 2nd or 3rd rate guild who isn't even concerned about being top dog anymore. We sure as fuck didn't get stuck 2 or 3 expansions behind the current one, that would've been like being proud of beating VP during Luclin or POP.

LOS was ALWAYS number one on the server and always at least near the cutting edge serverwide, and no one from back in even the POP days would stand for anything else. Period. If something threatened that dominance, we'd bust ass, put in the hours, and do the work to make sure we beat down the threat.

LOS now has turned into what, Valorguard? Sorry, but that's not the LOS I knew, and no one from the LOS I DID know would accept that state. Since you guys obviously let it degenerate to that point, regardless of how or why, we generally feel that you guys have lost the right to be LOS, and are unworthy of the name. That's why we support the guild closure, or at least renaming the guild. Hell, resurrect Legacy of Aluminum, it would fit you better.

Now, if you go through a crash program of progression, and get back to the current expansion and challenging for #1 within a couple months, the old timer's anger will ease off. Since that will never happen in a million years with your current leadership, I don't expect that pressure to ease.

holy crap arlos you're being an elitest prick, the worst part about high end raiding in EQ was the ego that always came along with the players. If you actually cared about it, you wouldn't have left LoS for another game, the day you did that you gave up your right to have any say in the matter

And that right there ladies, is exactly why LoS was hated by everyone. It's a game, you're not special.

Actually, as I said at the time, my impetus to retire from EQ was seperate from moving to WOW. As you recall, I moved into a new house near the end of POP, and didn't get a new internet connection for 2 months, by which time GoD was well underway. Even before my forced hiatus I was deeply unhappy with the game, mostly due to the state of the Monk class at that point, I was logging in and playing more by habit and because it was part of helping the guild than anything else. When I DID come back, and found GoD to be a steaming shitpile... Well, I just couldn't take it any more.

As for my comments here, yes, I was perhaps a trifle harsh. However, you've read the thread on this in board monkeys, would you say I'm off in my summarization of the opinions of the other old-timers like Orby and Iaminae? I certainly don't think so.

I am still proud of my time in LOS. I know I wasn't one of the major cogs or anything, but I think I played a reasonable role. I'd be willing to bet all of the other old-timers are likewise proud of their time. This is why we're so upset with the leadership that allowed it to get converted into something unrecognizeable from our experience. Would Ariel have let the guild fall to 3rd place on the server? Would Tigole? Would any of the MEMBERS from back then have put up with it falling that far? Hell, would YOU have? I don't think so.

As I said before, I would LOVE to see LOS get its act back together, go back to kicking ass and taking names and being top dog. I just don't expect it to do so, certainly not with its current leadership team. Look at what was posted as happened Sunday night. Do I need any other illustration?

As I said, I look quite fondly back at my time in LOS, and I am sure many of the other old members feel the same way. Is it so elitist to wish that the current guild lived up to the guild we once gave our blood sweat and tears to? Is it so elitist to be angry at the fact that not only does it not, but that they don't seem to CARE that it doesn't; that they've accepted being a 3rd rate guild, when that was NEVER what LOS was about?

Some of them would like the name to be retired but not all of them, not by a long shot just the ones that bothered to post. The guild has always gone through it's ups and downs, it has always come back and it can always do it again.

Is it elitest to be upset that your old guild isn't having the same success it used to? no of course not but to go and tell them they are unworthy of the name, or to assume that they've accepted being a 3rd rate guild, that is elitest and is insulting to anybody still playing.

You found problems with the game, and decided to leave, and that is where you lost your right to have any voice in the current decisions made by the guild. Things were bad and you left, too bad this intense pride in being los didn't matter then because you actually could have been a major cog.

It's so easy to snipe from the peanut gallery and say "the leadership allowed" bullshit, but you never played a leadership roll in los and have no idea what kind of effort it takes and also what the situation in EQ is right now.

I see where you're coming from Sutiea. I respect that and even looking at my old guild Crimson Tempest we only have like 15-20% of our old roster. The difference is that the previous leadership's mantra (Morph and Quixen) still holds true in the current (Lanolar) and they are still the dominating force on their server. Now, I don't claim to know the inner workings of LoS, but from an outsiders point of view I've always seen them as the best and I'm saying if there isn't anyway that LoS wll reclaim that, then it's not LoS. LoS was #1 for the entire 6 years I played. They were at one point #1 gamewide. For them to be behind the likes of Euphoria is a travesty. (sorry Euph)

You said it yourself. Accept LoS as being second fiddle and that they'd never be the dominating force on the server again. I dunno, I just think that a guild with the reputation of always being the best should never accept that. If your crew has the opportunity to reclaim that then go for it, otherwise I'd sooner disband and rebuild the guild under another name then to accept anything less. Let the name go out with greatness. This is, again, coming from someone who only saw LoS from the outside looking in.

Did we disband the US when the Civil War broke out?
Did we disband US when Bush was elected?
No.

Keep in mind during those times we were and still are the most powerful nation in the world. Also, remember that the majority of the population did vote for Bush (well, the second time and no I'm not a Bush supporter). Also, you're comparing a country to an EQ guild.

I am just saying that one should not lose sight of history.

Things get tough and times get hard.

Sometimes Bush gets elected president.

But we will always remain the US, even when times get rough.

LoS will remain LoS. Through the hard times, through the good times, into the future where they will once again rule the lands.

One should also not forget that Silent Resurgence came from a dying server.

Who gives a shit? It's a game, an old game that's been played out by all of us. I'm 32 years old now, I've gotten laid and Married. Who cares about who did what and when in a game or what they're doing or not doing?

Narrock was my next online gaming character's name. Now it's Sygma on WoW. I don't think Lyion will allow another name change though. I never like the name "Mindia" anyway.
