Ok, so I installed EQ again, patched it properly, have everything in the everquest folder, and it's bitching about the same issue that ouchyfish had

I had already put everything in the right spot I think, and my .net is right up to date, any other ideas?

well,it gets past that error and now produces

eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Hmm, I had no problems and I just followed Harrisons instructions. I did run the EQ Play nice program, then ran the SOD patcher, then ran the game.

Repatch EQ, it might not have gotten everything correctly the first time.

The order I did it was this:

Run patcher with boxes up to GoD (complete file check)

Install all EQ files. (REMEMBER-if you're running the patcher file it likes to put some or all of the files and directories into the damn Sony/Launchpad directory. So for the hell of it, I copied every sub directory and file under that Launchpad directory to Sony/Everquest directory.

Delete maps folder thats in the everquest directory.

Download and unzip maps folder from <a href="http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/patcher/Maps.zip">here</a> to replace it

Download this <a href="http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/patcher/Release.zip">zip file</a> and unzip the two files into your everquest directory.

Double click sodpatcher.exe, guide it to your everquest directory, and everything should work.

That's how I made mine work. I did have one problem on my other PC because it's an AMD dual processor, but installing this fixed that:

I finally got it to work

it was just being retarded I guess

Everytime I run the sod patcher, I have to point it at the EQ directory like 4 times
it's dumb

that being said, I'm now an almost lvl3 bard (is it just me or do the bard songs not work quite right?)

Bard songs work the way they wanted them to.

You can't twist like you could on live. Everyone I know who has played both prefers this system 90% of the time. (they still wish they could twist 4-5 songs at once if they wanted to)

Can you still play original EQ and shards without them interfering with eachother? I see you are suppose to delete the map files from EQ, but i still log in acouple of times a month.

Anyway to get them to run without interfering?

I have both maps, they just overlap and you might have to shut off layers 1 and 2 for certain labels to go away.

It's a minor annoyance at most.

how do they actually work then? i actually liked the ability to twist

and from doing the /who all's I've yet to see 10 active bards at once

I know you can only sing two beneficial songs at once. But they are automatic, so you don't have to develop carpal tunnel.

I'm not sure about detrimental songs, and how they work.

My buddy started a bard. He auto plays 2 beneficial and twists detrimental. He loves his bard. AOE STUN FTW

the icons don't grey out on an active song, so sometimes it's hard to tell

Some things are just working with the limitations of a reverse engineered server. In some situations it has forced them to be rather creative when it comes to dealing with shit that doesn't work quite right, but they can't do everything perfectly.
