It was better when you camped Ragefire in SolB... many trains~

Got hectic when giants started respawning and you had to check who was still awake.

when some of us were camping Rage, Zedd rodded himself to death while making some for everyone

I also remember the massive amounts of tryin to ninja loot him.

Sad part was Velious came out pretty soon after and the epics were worthless for warriors except to look cool but again Blade of Carnage was a nice thing

I remember when Dashi said "STOP BREAKING FUCKIN MEZ" ... oh wait that was just about every raid and group i was in with him :)

i hate when i accidentally hit every mob after it was mezed :)

I think it was the same one that Zedd rodded himself to death. We were there for like 6 hours at least.

Postby Malluas » Wed Jun 09, 2004 9:59 pm

there was that time with the double Klandicar pop that was pretty cool

Ring of LoadingPleaseWait was cool till it turned into that heh.

I think the only zone (mins PoP and GoD) i never saw was Veeshans Peak. never bothered to finish the key hehe.

Damn also forgot the Gnome/Dragon GM event in WW. That was a zerg fest but with help from the GM. Decent loot also if i remember, some Sleeper's Warder drops and some nice caster stuffs. Took forever heh

Another good one was the first AoW kill that i didn't LD on with LoS i got the Bow that was nifty first one that dropped i think.

A couple other favs are when CoA did the Sk epic final fight and we all died an average of 6 times and the CoA PoSky raid where Zux died jumping off an Isle when he hit a chain on the way down.

One of the most memorable (not oldest memories - but most prominent) was the 14 (or whatever the fuck it was) hour long VT raid with BoD on the night we decided to "take it back from WD"....

We sat outside of AHR's room for hour, after hour, after hour.... so long we started a pool on the actual spawn time... and playing 20 questions in /say. I'm pretty sure it was the same night that WD was kicked out of the zone by a GM after they tried to leap frog us...

Was a VERY long... very gay night... but it will always be stuck forever in my EQ Memory space.

Another was my lemming raid - a raid I lead to kill Kirn for my shaman epic in the Hole. Someone told me that if you positioned yourself just right you could fall down the hole in Paineel, land in the water, and live. I confirmed it on the websites and talking to a couple of other people. So I decide to try it...

Unfortunately... I didn't tell everyone to wait while just *I* tried it... all but like 3 AFK people ran right off the cliff after me and died... *plop* *plop* *plop*....

Luckily, we found a dwarven cleric to drop in the hole with DA up and rez us... that was a LONG evening...

I don't remember most raids because I simply didn't pay attention, just watched movies. Two stick out best in my memory though.

The first one was when I was a wee lad of a cleric around level 50 (the first time) and Ugzug was leading a raid to the Hole for his epic piece as well as a few other's epic pieces. Well the whole night was going entirely to smooth as we passed Nortlov (?) the Scalekeeper. I said I was going to pull him, and someone said go for it. I said inc and everyone lol'ed except Ugzug, who I knew his ass was puckering up. Everyone thought it was a joke, he was the only one who knew me well enough to know it was truly an incoming message. Needless to say, I wiped us and laughed my ass off for the 90 minutes we had to CR, I think Ugzug would still slap me to this day for doing it.

The second raid was like the second time I had sacrificed Xaasf to 45 and sold off his droppable gear. I was passed out on the couch and Pacemaker (my cousin and roommate at the time) told me to wake up and log on my cleric and come to Hate for a pick-up / Anarchy Reborn raid. I was like, "wtf man, I am 45 and 1/2 my armor is missing." Well I went anyway. So we clear Hate and decide to kill Inny. After losing people right and left and getting Inny to 13% it was down to me, another cleric some SK and I believe the monk was Almegest. The other cleric gets aggro and dies then the SK quickly followed suit. Almegest and me were the only 2 left standing when Inny went down. *

*may have been a different monk, I get Almegest, Blurz and Labbats confused to this day in my mind. It may also not have been Anarchy Reborn, it may have been that guild that the Gargamella thing is GL to now.

Oh yeah, remembered one of my last raids too. It was with Euphoria and I was at my wit's end with that guild. So we were doing the loan bird in Fire (name escapes me atm). I hate people buffing me with buffs I don't ask for. Someone cast see invis on me, and I told them to knock it the fuck off. Finally Derrict thought it would be funy to spam me with resist cold and someone else spammed me with see invis. I told them to knock it off, yet they kept it up. So, I replaced C heal for Atone in my spell line up, on engage, I counted to 4 and cast. Derrict was first slain, and I giggled like a school girl. I think we were down to 15 people when aggro finally was under control and we won, I gated when the mob dropped, camped and think that was the night I quit the game for good. (other than single night returns to piss people off) Man, I was bitchy :)

No, they are not.

But dont take my word for it, ask any of the tons of people still around who did the Anks Vox raid which was way before Kunark. All of them will gladly tell you you're wrong.

Then again you had no clue about Euphoria's history, a guild I helped found.

Here's more proof for ya. This is Christmas 1999. Also, post April 2000 I changed my lastname to Von'Tsai, before Kunark was released.

If you want to argue, then how about proof? I've given mine, and many in the screenshots are still around and can verify this.

Fine, Proof you want, Proof you get:

http://eq.crgaming.com/viewarticle.asp?Article=3009

Notice the website? Notice the Date? December 6 2000. Velious. I am sorry, I was wrong, it was Late 2000 when the transparent UI came out. It was released with Velious. If you want, you can keep going back on the castersrealm site to see the exact date of the new transparent UI which was: Velious era.

Proof? There ya go. Thread Over.

a couple from me : in chrono order ~

pre kunark - winning some shroud or some shit for Indo/toshio when i was in Xinxi lake when he played his druid because he couldnt random because his <space> bar was broken and he.put.a.period.between.words.

Crogon's trak raid, i gained him like 3 levels so he would be 49 prior to the raid, and he died and lost them all ~ we would of won if sanct hadnt told all their wizards they would be guild removed if they didnt leave.

Remedy standing up for me in PoH when sanctuary tried to race up to mage Ptsai for glic, and basically said lets the race begin as we all, and us winning. to bad the drop rates ont hat damned staff sucked back then and i didnt get it, then i said fuck it, and didnt get my epic untill years later.

playing sick in raids, any raids, cleric cheal hains rock.

alot more as suxbik, lilcuts, some random wizard i had for like 3 days, i cant remember his name. dunes when i had him a couple months, some random DE warrior i played a couple months. all were fun, and a shaman, ragnoroth or something!

1more sorry, when you could charm "frozen jesus" in kael, and enchanters would solo for that shield, i came along, i was first ally to kael on the server, i came along and saw fell and a cleric attempting to duo it for sanct, and i told remedy, sick sending me a tell "dispell jesus", and i did. GOD IT WAS GREAT.

And any tell i ever sent mudcrush when they failed a mob after los sent us tells on dain.

The transparent inventory that they are talking about in that patch message must be something different.

I looked through all my old screenshots the other day. I am level 19 and hanging out in fucking MISTMOORE and my hotkeys are transparent. Just drop it, you are fucking WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Jesus christ man.

Morgreth, you are confused. That exact 'full-screen' UI was around when I first picked up EQ from Wal-Mart. I can post pictures, WITH DATES(in the screenshot), if you need me to. It's the exact same thing...

except... if I were to post pictures you would see that I had 2 hotkeys for "YELL" and "HELP!". God, I was so manly.

But... yes... Kyo's dates are correct. If you look in the vox raid, you can see all types of people that would have NEVER gone to a Kyo raid post-Kunark. Hell, in the lower-guk group... there are people that *retired* before Kunark.

Then I am wrong. I picked up the box in dec of 99, never had transparent ui no matter what I did. All through old world, then all through Kunark. I never could get a transparent UI no matter what I did. It wasnt until Velious came out that we were allowed to have the UI be transparent.

I never saw a transparent UI until velious, it was always the same ass dumb old one from when I first bought the game. If there was a way to get a transparent UI before that date, I do not know of it.

Also, as I recall from the Hidekyo (Sp?) the first kill of Innorruuk (on the Nameless) was by Legacy of Steel after Christmas of 1999.

You had to flip a switch in the eqclient.ini file "Transparent UI = TRUE" or something like that.

if you were paying attention, the discussion was not where any of the screenshots were taken, but rather when. Where a screenshot is taken is completely irrelevant to this discussion. What the arguement is: IS when then the screenshots were taken.

My contention is that the transparent UI was not available till Velious was released. I have offered proof on the form of patch messages from 2000 that state when the new transparent UI was to be in and working. People here have argued that they killed Inny in 1999, however, the only guild on nameless to have killed Inny in 1999 was Legacy of Steel, and they Did that after Dec 25 in 1999. People have said that I am wrong about the dates and even say that the transparent UI was released at the same time as the original game. They are mistaken, and as proof I offered the sites (castersrealm) which show in the archives (patch archives) of when the transparent UI was released (which was when Velious was released). Maybe I am wrong. Maybe I am mistaken. (I am uncertain as to how I can be, and when you consider that every screenshot I ever say pre-velious all had the same original UI and no transparency, then I am not the one that is mistaken) But you know what? Considering that the people arguing about the game no longer play and appear to have faulty memories, I say: Fine. Remember the game as you want.

the patch you are talking about refers to the transparent inventory, not UI. See if that jogs your memory some.

If you hit I while in the old UI, it would pop your screen back to the newbie screen with half of it blocked out.

Transparent UI was available when i started back in early 2000 before Kunark. The problem was when you clicked your spellbook or inventory it automatically sent you back to the default UI and it was very ugly and annoying. Velius brought a patch that didn't kick you back to the default when you opened your spellbook or inventory.

But... everyone wanted to go to my Raids! Stop the FUD, Vonk.

It was an Anks raid. He left pre-Kunark, I think. The Santa pic was from when I was in Storm Reavers, a guild which dissolved and mostly joined LOS pre Kunark, I think.

If you're going to bring up Hideaki, then at least bring up the Soul Leech transfer and the 'batphone' thread. I still laugh about that, and its funny the way to 'win' an MMORPG is to be a dev at another company!
