Uh oh!

My husband isn't home right now to help me with this, so maybe one of you know..

Starting last night, my computer just randomly shuts off by itself. Last night I said fuck it and went to bed. I was able to turn it on this morning, but 3 times in a row it would load up, let me play WoW a little, or surf the intraweb~ And then just shut off.

What's up with that? My power source?

Is it really hot there like it is here? I figure your new house has A/C so I dunno. If not, open the side of the case and point a fan at it.

What Taxx said.

Sounds like you're overheating.

Bob can also check your BIOS if it has an emergency shut off for the CPU temperature, usually it's set way low and he could bump it a up a bit and still be ok. Your motherboard has an internal sensor that says "omg the cpu is hot, shut off compootar".

a flaky powersupply can cause issues like that as well

Mine was doing the exact same thing with WoW
every now and then, just dumped me to desktop, or reboot the machine

borrowed my brothers bigger PSU, and I was fine

so for now, I underclocked my CPU, and I"m stable again

if the cooling problem or PS does not fix one thing you might try is this...

http://216.180.233.162/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

download this and post your log...Ill look at it. I know there is a virus that does this as well. I should be able to tell by your hijack log what is going on in your system.

Thanks everyone :) Yes it was overheating a little, as well as the power supply was about to take a big dump. So I went out and bought a new one ! Problem solved :)

ps. Taxx. I think the highs were about 90 here, I know for sure it's over 80 degrees right now. I finally bit my lip and shut all the windows, and turned the AC on. There goes my electric bill hehe.

I want to turn my AC on, but the roommates don't like it. So I sit in sweat. It's gross really. Glad to hear you got your computer up and running again.

Thanks :) I totally understand the grossness of not having AC, trust me. It's bad when you have to take 3 cold showers a day to ensure you don't smell and to rinse the sweat off ><
