linksys wireless g

Postby Drem » Tue Nov 29, 2005 5:04 pm

so i bought a wireless card to get free internet like i used to on my laptop but the card keeps turning on and off in the network. randomly goes from available to unavailable service. i had this problem on my laptop but i fixed it and now i can't remember how.

i have the new driver so i think it's just networking issues. i also don't think it's the windows WZC because i've already tried toggling it and it doesn't help and it's not in use when i use the linksys config, anyway. but either config i use, it still drops the connection on a regular basis and then turns back on immediately. it's also not the networks i'm trying to hook up to because i used to use them on my laptop and my roommates are using them right now.

so, any suggestions?

Is it on a desktop? Make sure you have the antenna hooked up if it's a PCI card. Or if it's a USB nic, there should be a little cradle that it sits in for better reception. Without the antenna, the range is really weak. Also, make sure you are connecting to the right network. They may be multiple networks in range.

seriously... toss the linksys. They are really pieces of intermittently failing shit.

I'm not kidding here. I like a lot of the newer D Link and Netgear stuff.

My linksys wireless g USB is a complete POS. Might want to replace it, if you have one.

USB wireless adapters always suck

as for just pure routers, no one makes worse garbage than Dlink

netgear is ok, I've had good experience with Linksys

My two DLink gamer's lounge gigabit routers fucking rock! Awesome performance and fantastic interface... actually the best interface I have ever seen on a router.
