So uh

Postby 10sun » Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:47 am

I think my laptop has finally been fucked.

used it early Saturday for getting directions, shut it off and went out for the night.

Sunday afternoon, after I woke up, the keyboard only works on half the sides of it and some of the other keys don't work properly at all.

I can't even type in my password.

What options do I have?

This is a several year old Compaq x1000.

Send it to Compaq and tell them to fix it and end up paying $300?
Suck it up and just part it out and buy a new one?

What?

chances are the connector from the keyboard to the mobo has come loose (or maybe broken)

1st thing I'd do is get the keyboard off, and re-attach it

compaq laptops generally have good community

2 seconds of google resulted in this:

specifically tear down guide
