EQ2/WoW 128/256

Postby Sirens » Tue Nov 16, 2004 2:37 am

will try eq2 out before i head to WoW.

I will be buying a 9800 based card.

based on experience ... should i buy standard, pro or XT based card ?

based on experience ... should i buy 128 or 256 Mb ?

based on experience ... will i see any improvement ? also in eq1 which im not leaving.

(base system is p4 3ghz , 2gb ram and nvidia ti4200 atm)

I dont play any other games....but will this card be suitable for a few months worth of BF2 and Joint Ops...which my bf plays on my pc....well i guess not much more after i get eq2 or / and WoW

I just today got all the shit so that I can have my new computer built. The best available in Shanghai, China is the nVIDIA Geforce6800. That's what I went ahead and bought. Is that pretty much top of the line back in the States or what? It's 256M.

Sorry to impose on your question. I just thought that if someone knew the answer to yours then they would know mine also.

6800 is one step below the 6800GT, you have a pretty much top of the line card.

As for Sirens:

If you have the money, get the XT, you won't regret it. 256 also if you can afford it.

From a ti4200 to a 9800XT you will see a HUGE improvement on EQ2, less so with EQ1. But, you will see one...

I own a 9700pro now and am quite pleased with it, but I am an nvidia fanboi still. I want a 6800GT more than anything.

Sirens at one time there was a BIOS flash for the 9800 line.
You could flash a regular 9800 to the top of the line 9800 with same RAM

The 6800 runs nice. The difference between the GT is not that huge.

For WOW, break out the commedore 64 and that can handle thier graphics.

Well I guess I was getting the GT. It was just a language barrier that got me confused. When they built the computer in front of me it was the GT. I was pretty happy to see that =)

Go 256 Megs. Its not as important for older game, but it'll give you a good boost on newer ones.
