because I don't game much with it and the PC3200 SODIMMS seemed overpriced. It came with 512MB and played a few games like Half Life 2, Doom III etc ok but EQ2 was very frustrating. Horrific load times and horrid frame rate made it not fun. I dealt with it because I only played like 4hours a month. I bought a gig of ram for it last weekend and now EQ2 is a completely different game... holy shit. Even the bird rides are silky smooth on high quality setting. That used to be a slide show for me. It's even mostly playable on the highest graphic setting.

oh man I lived in the hell that is EQ2 on 512 MB of ram for awhile, I feel your pain. Basically unplayable. Newer comp, 2 gigs now and loads are < 10 secs usually.
You were right Tikker. We suck.

Computers are like cars. You put a little money into them every year to tune them up and they'll last you a long time.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
