XML experts

Postby Gidan » Tue May 16, 2006 2:37 pm

We have any XML experts here. I have never actually attempted to use XML beyond rewriting EQ UI's and needed to get more info regarding XML in web based apps.

Anyone want to give me a basic idea of what makes XML useful. Based on the things I have read so far, I just cant see a use for it. This opinion is based off all my work being in php and perl at the moment.

Its a great way to save data in a structured format.
It can also make classes.

I dont code xml directly but many of the apps I make use xml either for communication or saving of data. ADO.NET saves all its information into datasets. They are made up from XML. Webservices uses XML to communicate over port 80.

Like I said, I don't code xml directly but many of the technologies in .net use it.
