just finished putting together a monster box running win7 64bit
then i threw the old parts back together into a working secondary which is not very powerful but just as solid. what should/can i do with it?
specs:
ASUS M2NPV-VM mainboard with onboard sound (though i do have an extra soundblaster available)
bfgtech 8600GT graphics card
two 80GB seagate IDE hard drives
DVD RW drive
i have legit copies of XP pro or Vista i could put on it, although i'm open to other OS options
any ideas? not really enough storage for a viable home media server... what else is there?
spare box, what do i do with it?

Re: spare box, what do i do with it?
I've actually got that exact board as my upstairs living room HTPC
if you've got another box housing all of your media, it'll make a fantastic front end
XP MCE, or Vista, or win7 all would be great front ends
if you want to experiment you could go linux and toss Myth or XBMC on it
XBMC is a VERY nice front end for watching content, it just has no capability for live tv (pvr/tivo functionality)
i actually used the onboard video and onboard sound on that board for a long ass time
it'll do dolby and 720p no problem
