Hey my outlook is busted.

Postby Aatrex » Tue Nov 09, 2004 9:10 pm

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'xxx@xxx'. Subject 'Re: Trex!', Account: 'pop.charter.net', Server: 'smtp.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 #5.1.0 Address rejected.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I can receive e-mails from this acct but can't send from it. Anyone know why from this error? Does this with every email I try to send to from this acct, it's not the recipient that's owning me.

are you connecting to the ISP that hosts your email acct? I know I have had problems with trying to send an item that is forwarded from another ISP to the ISP that hosts my email acct

What Veenee said first. Make sure you are connected to the ISP that your SMTP server is hosted through. Most ISPs, especially cable/dsl, do not allow for other email servers to send through them. You can always change the POP account, but the SMTP usually has to be your ISP's servername.

Also, make sure that your ISP didn't go and change servernames on you (mine did about 4 months ago - I had to go digging to find out what it was since they didn't send an email to let me know). Find out what the current servernames are for both POP and SMTP, then doublecheck against your settings.

Finally, just in case, on the off chance that something really screwy is going on, like your friend accidentally has your address blocked, try sending your friend email from a different email address (I mean like from Yahoo or something web based) and see if it goes through.

Just as an aside, go to FILE, then go down the list - make sure you are not working "OFFLINE" and also make sure you are logged in under the correct account (if you have it setup that way).

Hope something here helps.

Hmm yeah, the situation is that I'm still using my email from my old ISP since they never shut it off and all the people I know have it. I did just switch ISPs so that's probably it with them blocking it. Is there a way around it?

Like old ISP was charter. New one is earthlink

You have to send it out thru your new ISP but you can still receive email from your old (as long as it's on).

Set up your SMTP for the old and the POP for the new and that should fix your problem.

Other way around hon:
setup POP from old ISP so you can recieve email from old address.
setup SMTP to *new* ISP so you can send out email.
