Burning DVDs?

Postby Witty » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:52 pm

What do I gotta do for this to work? I've gathered that simply having a dvd-rw won't get me past the copywrite protections, what is required?

You can always get Nero Linux.

That was a joke. Nero runs on Windows, too, and can burn DVDs. I highly recommend it.

Ah, I'm still working on my nerdery humor, my apologies. But yes I got the whole Nero thing working and all, the internet is telling me there's like a ripping process followed by a compression process before I can "back up" my commercial dvd and I need like 3 seperate programs to do this or something?

Yup, you need to use an intermediary 'ripper' program before you can copy the DVD files to bypass the encryption.

DVD shrink kicks ass, I should have just downloaded that in the first place. I don't quite understand the regional settings though, I get the message:

"This DVD seems to be RCE protected!

If you CORRECTLY specify the region for which this DVD was intended, DVD Shrink will remove the R.C.E. protection.

If you leave the R.C.E. coding unmodified, this DVD will not play in a region-free DVD player, or a player with a region code other than the intended region.

1)USA, Canada
2)West Europe, Japan, South Africa
3)Southeast Asia
4)Australia, Spanish America
5)Russia, East Europe, Africa
6)China

or Leave R.C.E. coding unmodified."

Is it as simple as: If I live in US and plan on playing this in the US then click US?

DVD43 and a copy of 1ClickDvdCopy is all you need. Together they work like a champ.

Better than DVD Shrink and Nero? Cause this DVD Shrink is the dank crack. I just wanted to burn 1 dvd. After such I changed my blockbuster membership to the infinite "rent 5 at a time" deal and am now in a worse state than when eq1 first came out.

Yup, better. It does it all in one package and it works good and reliable. I use netflix myself though. ;)
