For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

I decided to change from the T2500 2ghz to the T2400 1.83ghz so I could go with XP professional instead of media, any thoughts?

Yes here's a thought. Why do you want XP Professional?

Do you intend to connect to a domain or corporate network? Do you intend to share large amounts of files and need intricate permissions or ultra high security?

My guess is no to all 3. You don't need XP Pro, and you don't need Media Center Edition.

XP Home will work just fine for you. The only reason to get media center edition is if you want to control your laptop with a remote, control the TV, dvd player etc etc. Damn near every customer who buys Media Center Edition from next to never even uses the MCE interface.

Save the money on the OS and get the better processor douchemouth.

I have to agree with Capt. If you done NEED XP PRO, dont get it. XP Home is much cheaper and contains everything the standard user needs.

RAM + CPU > OS. You can always change the OS later.

Yes to both. Wireless and Ethernet (plugged in) is standard on Dell craptops.

Are you tech savvy enough to rebuild the thing from scratch? you will make it about 20 percent faster if you just do a complete reinstall of XP, drivers, antivirus and spyware and leave ALL that Dell BS off.

Oh and skip Norton AV...It is a huge joke these days. Buy Grisoft's AVG Professional for 29 bucks. Norton AV slows your system way down.

Yes and no. I can do desktops, but I've never done a laptop so alot of what I think I can do is assumed y'know?

I hope there isn't some bullshit about keeping their software for warranty or anything gay like that.

Make sure you upgrade to a dedicated graphics card so you can play WoW and Battlefield 2 without hiccups.
