Ok, for a while now i've been having this problem. I think i addressed it here once, but it never really got fixed. I've been having a problem with my graphix card (I think that's the issue)

Currently system runs at-

X800XL radeon
1gig of ram
dfi lanparty nf4 ultra D socket-939 motherboard
amd athlon 64 process 3300+ (I think?)
250 gig western digital harddrive.

I had the ati drivers downloaded a while back, but I couldn't ever find the right drivers because i'm a fucking idiot with computers, plain and simple, shit needs to be almost spelled out for me sometimes. I got frustrated and just downloaded the omega drivers because whatever I downloaded didn't seem to work. So i've been with the omega drivers for a while now, everything runs fine but all i've been playing is Counter-Strike, and that's basically it, so it's old fashion shit that it can take easily.

I bought fable today, and after I installed, the second I started the game the same shit as before happened again. I've bought like 3 games and this is the result I get from all 3 of em (Higher end graphics needs), Oblivion, This one (fable, which isn't even supposed to be that bad, wtf?) and some other game I can't think of the name at the moment.

I also have another problem where my sound drivers aren't being read, perhaps the wrong ones? I've also spent tons of time looking for the correct ones but it never ends up working. Most, and when I say most of the time, i mean like 9times out of 10, when i reboot, it won't read my sound drivers. I have to keep rebooting over and over to get it to fregin work. So i'm curious, with my X800XL, is there resolution option, refresh rates, new drivers, any diagnostic program i can download, or anything to fix this lame problem.

When I say a problem with the graphics card, i mean, the entire screen flickers with squares. Obviously in order etc. It just flickers and I have to reboot, taking me 10 reboots to get my sound back as well. Lame as shit.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I don't want to reformat, because I don't know how to do all of that shit, but if it's the only way, obviously I will. Also, i'm going to see if i can post a screenshot of the flickering.

Ps, yes i've turned the graphics on the games all the way down, and while they don't look like shit, they're still pretty eh compared to what my standards think they should be. Here are the omega drivers i've got currently (downloaded some new ones).

Here is an example of what i mean when i say flickering squares-

I'm now going to reboot and probably lose sound, at which point i'll post another ss and then go to sleep in frustration, heh.

Keep in mind it opens up as if it was the old Windows UI, not the new bubbly one or whatever. I don't know what the fuck to do, but I have to restart like 9 times in order for it to work.

Ps, some of the video card SS's are altered because of the new omega drivers i just downloaded and rebooted. It's 3.8.273 rather than 3.8.234 or whatever. Whether that's pertinent or not i've got no idea, I just need some help~

Also, I rarely shut off my computer, it runs a ton and i've had it about a year in a half now. It was bought off newegg (the parts, xion case, and put together by a friend).

Windows XP Pro btw.

I appreciate any help possible, if you have any questions or ideas i'll try to address em when i wake up tomarrow. Also, if you do have elaborate feedback i'd much rather prefer Ventrilo or something of that nature so i'm not lost.

Off to sleep, much thank to anyone able to help out. G'night.

Is the fan working on the video card? Check that first.

Sounds like your Video card might have killed some ram or is in the process of killing it.

Is your power supply sufficient? That could also be a culprit.

Update DirectX.

Download latest version of motherboard drivers. That should be easy. It should hopefully have a full set of drivers for everything that is onboard on your PC. Uninstall your sound card drivers, update motherboard drivers.

Yes all the fans are working, i've got like 12 of them in the mother fucker. Two 80mm's in the back, power supply, a 80mm on the side of the case, a 120 in the front of the case, one for the mb, one for the video card, one for the processor, one for the powersupply (160dollar power supply). Direct X is updated. I've looked into the MB drivers but there are so many different ones, i've tried downloading a few at one point and it fucked up or stayed the same. I'll look into it again a lil later.

Second file down is what you need unless you don't have .NET framework. If so, then you need the first 2 files.

If this doesn't work then you most likely have a faulty vid card.

It's possible the omega drivers were causing a conflict with your sound. Try the ATI ones and see if it cures both problems first.

The problem existed long before the omega's were installed. And the problem still exists now that I've got the ATi's, although, I redownloaded the audio drivers from the DFI site i listed, (old drivers i've had before), and it worked on the first restart. That doesn't say much though, luck seems to play a factor and I don't want to keep rebooting for the problem, heh.
