PC backup

Postby Naethyn » Fri Jul 20, 2007 8:32 am

I used to use Norton Ghost a few years back, but I really don't want to put Norton on my system. Does anyone have any suggestions for a "golden copy" backup system? I want to make a perfect install. Create a backup at that point and be able to reset to it.

Thanks!

Norton Ghost enterprise. It's by far the best I've seen and you shouldn't need to "install" anything. Just create a boot CD with the program on it and create the image from there.

Wow I didn't know Norton Ghost could be used from a boot CD!

I use Amanda on my linux server to backup all my files and do a full Windows backup. Disk is cheap. I debated using my NLSU2 server, but it doesn't file transfer fast enough.

I also suggest getting a 2 Gig flash drive for any important files.

Norton Ghost isn't free. I also don't care for Norton products, personally.
