syncronise bookmarks (firefox)

is there a reasonably easy way to accomplish this? I've looked at some of the add-ons that do this task, but all of them basically require you to deposit your book marks on THEIR server, and I just really don't want to do that, to be honest

I kind wish it was like the old days (maybe it is and I just can't find it?) where you could just point your book marks folder at a central spot and just basically use 1 list

Redirect your bookmarks to a file on YOUR server.

Oh, guess I forgot about FF 3.0+ changing bookmarks to a database rather than a simple html file like in the past.
Setup a profile and such.

firefox.exe -ProfileManager

Either that or you are looking at doing some symbolic linking (Linux/Unix/MacOS support it via command line iirc & w/ Windows you'll need a 3rd party app: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768.aspx).
