because you are looking for a wiring harness when it should be right by the trailer hitch.

I'm debating picking up a travel trailer or Class C RV. I'm looking to use it for camping, but also start doing a good chunk of travelling, as I'd like to start visiting more places with my little guys.

Not sure what to get, though. I've never had either.

That's pretty much our dilemma. My little guys are 5 and 6 and since half of what we want to do is travel versus camp girl likes the idea of a Class C. I personally like the idea of the travel trailer as it gives the option of not driving around locally with a 30' vehicle.

I dunno, just started doing research. I'd like to buy something around the end of this year.

Right now I don't have a tow vehicle. I was looking at getting an F-150, though if I go the travel trailer route.

If I'm looking to get a 25' travel trailer, what's the best bet for a family tow vehicle? I'd really rather not have an F-250 mongo guy.

It seems a lot of people like the F-150s. I'd probably nab a 3 or 4 year old travel trailer similar to the one I linked above. I actually might take a look at an Expediton, too. There will be four or five of us traveling. That was some of the appeal of the Class C, but the lockdown once one gets to their destination has me thinking that might not be worth the added benefit of taking a restroom break mid flight.

I'm really still not decided. It seems the travel trailer is a better first vehicle for someone like me, though.

I think I have the weights down and the tow concept. Any reason to buy a new travel trailer over a used one?

Does it matter if I get a large SUV instead of a truck for my tow vehicle?

I think I told this story to tikker a while back but I started with a coleman pop-up and then went with a travel trailer. I love our travel trailer. I've not seen one like it since. One big plus is the two back bunks are full size, not the "coffin" type bunks most have today. So we've got a queen up front and two full size bunks in the back. Has a slide out, etc etc, love the thing.

I've used expeditions and f150 to pull the thing. Unloaded it is 5k in weight, I never haul water but I do probably put a good 500-1000 pounds of "stuff" (food, clothes, bikes, mini-fridge, etc) so I'm thinking my real weight is around the 6k mark.

The f150 does a great job and I tend to only have issues one long steep inclines (Zilwalkee bridge here in MI comes to mind). That bridge, pedal to the floor, I almost slow down, I would fully expect to have serious issues if I were hitting the hills of TN or something.

As for the break harness, I didn't hit any of those links, IMO I would have it installed. The one I have uses a dial to hone it and a button to force it. You have to find that sweet spot on the dial so the camper doesn't tug on you when you break but also that it doesn't push on you at the same time. I've had that situtation where the roads were wet, an asshole cuts in front of you as you come up on a stop light and the feeling of the camper pushing your locked up tires BLOWS (I didn't hit the guy but still, NOT a good feeling).

Ours is a Keystone Lerado '02 (I think, maybe '03)
