Joe Thornton apparently is headed west.
According to a report on Canada's TSN, the Boston Bruins, in last place in the Northeast, have traded their captain to the San Jose Sharks for Wayne Primeau, Marco Sturm and Brad Stuart.
Thornton, the first overall pick in the 1997 draft, has nine goals and 24 assists this season in 33 games for Boston.
Primeau, a center, was the Sabres' first-round choice, 17th overall, in the 1994 draft. He has five goals and three assists in 21 games.
Sturm, the Sharks' first-round choice, 21st overall, in the 1996 draft, has six goals and 10 assists in 23 games.
Stuart, the Sharks' first-round choice, third overall, in the 1998 draft, has two goals and 10 assists in 23 games.
Hrm, dunno what I think of this. Stuart is gonna be a huge loss on the back end, and we've really been weak there this year for some reason. Maybe it'll spark the team, tho. Sharks have been sucking it up big time for some reason, though in large part it's been Nabokov looking awful for some reason. Hopefully he can turn it around...
