Refs want Lakers to win?

Postby Lyion » Mon May 01, 2006 6:14 am

Anyone else watch the Lakers/Suns game?

I'm trying to figure out how Walton didn't foul Nash.

I'm also trying to figure out why they refused to let Nash take a timeout when it was apparent he was trying to.

Yes

...because he didn't commit a foul? It's usually one of the main reasons why someone would be called for a foul.

That's the bigger issue, but if you watch the replay you can clearly see that Nash only tries to call a timeout once Walton gets his mitt on the ball, thus he no longer has possession.

Good call by the refs, but please continue to hate on the Lakers if you want.

You've got to be kidding. Walton mugged Nash. I watched the replay several times and it annoys me.

I'm ambivalent about the Lakers, and I like Kobe, but I hate it when the refs ignore the rules.

Watch the replay again. It was clearly a foul and should've been called. I'm not sure if Walton locked him up before the timeout, but I'll watch it again.

He didn't foul him, simple as that, Lyion. If you've seen the replay many times and claim otherwise you don't know what a foul is.

He made all contact with ball, didnt overtly bang Nash, grab his arm, move him with his body?

Sheesh, you can comment they shouldn't make calls in the last minute, but in no way is that not a foul.

Walton didn't even bang him with his body at all. It was Odom who stoped Nash' progress, so he would be the one who would be called for a foul with his body, which he shouldn't because Nash was moving into him as well.

You ARE aloud to make contact with a persons arm in a loose ball situation, as long as he doesn't slap him or hit him. Once Nash was tied up he had two options call a timeout or try and force them to foul him by grabbing him. Walton was able to reach around him and get his hand on the ball, once that happens they both have just as much right to the ball. You can't call a timeout while someone else has his hands on the ball.

Er, the ball wasnt loose. Nash clearly had control of it, and it was clearly a foul.

Nash had control of the ball when Walton had his hand on it?

It looked like a 50/50 call and it swung the Laker's way.

Maybe the Suns shouldn't have blown the game in regulation.

This makes it look more like a foul.

But still, Nash got trapped and wanted the refs to bail him out. Plays like that get no calls all the time. This is all just NBA conspiracy theory crap.

It was clearly a foul. Walton mugged him. There also was clearly a timeout way before the jump ball.

No conspiracy theory, and the Suns certainly lost the game, but those were some turd refs, for sure.
