As for Cy young, i dont disagree with your AL choice, but NL was wondering why you picked Willis over say Chris Carpenter? Not really disagreeing with you, but just wanted to know why.

Same with your MVP candidates. Why ARod over Ortiz, and why Andrew over Pujols or Lee?

ARod and Jones carries their team when their teams had injuries(yankees and braves) and bad pitching(yankees).

Arod over Ortiz because Ortiz has Ramirez batting behind him so he is seeing a lot more hittable pitches than Rodriguez.

Willis dominates hitters when he pitches while not getting the run support that the Cardinals give Carpenter. I think if Clemens get the run support from the Astros similar to what Carpenter is getting from the Cardinals, he wins hands down. In 9 of Clemens starts, the Astros were shut out.

AL Cy Young: Johan Santana
AL MVP: Eh, either Ortiz or Rodriguez would be fine. Both are flawed choices though. If Haffner hadn't lost so many games to an injury (concussion, I believe) he'd probably make a better candidate.
NL Cy Young: Probably Cris Carpenter, after Willis got clobbered.
NL MVP: Albert Pujols

Rodriguez is unprotected in a lineup that contains Matsui, Sheffield, and the resurgent Giambi? I think we can toss that argument right out.

Jones didn't 'carry' the Braves. He hit a lot of home runs for the Braves, but Pujols has much, much better all-around numbers and significantly more Win Shares.

Willis also gives up more walks and hits per inning than Carpenter does, which contributes to his higher ERA. Clemens I could see being in the mix based on superior pitching stats, but I'd definitely give Carpenter the nod over Willis.

Pujols NL MVP-After all of the injuries to the teams core sluggers, he kept the pitchers winning.

Manny AL MVP-He makes it happen despite trade talks.

AL CY Tim Wakefield-knuckleball is fun!

NL CY Cris Carpenter-I don't want to hear sad sack stories about what Clemens COULD do. Joe Magrane led the league in ERA back in 88 or 89 and he was something like 5-9. Did HE deserve the Cy Young award? Fuck no. As for Dontrelle, I am not impressed. Carpenter is a better pitcher.

The AL MVP will be decided by whatever team takes 1st place and gets in the playoffs. The upcoming Sox/Yankee series should be a good one, the loser of that series might not even make the playoffs due to those pesky Indians.

Anyway for the AL MVP, I'd go with A-Rod because of his abilities as a 3rd baseman. Just last night alone, A-Rod saved the Yankees from losing at least twice because of his glove and arm.
