Vikings in the playoffs

back in week 9 I said the vikes would probably be in playoff contention and have a record around or over .500. Well they have .500 locked, what do you think about playoffs.

They play Pitt this coming weekend. It'll be a good test of where they are as a team.

They pretty much need to win out, if they do that they'll take the North. I don't know if they can beat Pitt, but I bet they beat the Bears.

They have to win 2 out of 3 because I bet they'd get to 10 wins in the preseason. Go Vikes!

what I'm looking at is, can they beat the Bears in the final week, I do believe that is what it will come down to.

Steelers will prolly take the win, although I'm wondering how much playing time the bus will get, whether-the-less, Parker is a good back this season and will have a good day, not to mention Pittsburgh is fighting the wild card race themselves, hate to say it, but I'm not really counting on them to win, unless their defense pulls it off.

the Ravens... should be a win.

this will leave them at 9-6, which with another loss they'd prolly miss the playoffs, then look at the bears.

They play who next week, Atlana? should be interesting as they are in the playoff race themselves. Chicago will be at home, but it all depends on which Atlana team shows up.

Then they play the pitiful Green Bay Packers. Yes they suck, but rivalry's are funny like that. Not to mention it's at Lambough Field. I do think the Packers could pull the upset off.

now depending on which of these games they lose (I do think they will lose one) they will be 10-5.

If the Vikes were to beat the Bears and the Bears lost to the Packers.... Vikes in the Playoffs because they would be 5-1 in the division, while the Bears would be 4-2. If they lost to the Falcons, they would have the same record, same divisional record, then it would go against like opponents, and i don't know that one.... if that is a tie, it will be the bears with a better NFC record 9-3 opposed to 8-4.

... That's if I remember the playoff and wild card selection correct.

Viking defense early in the season is no reflection on what they are doing currently. They look damn good.

At what point did Carolina become a running team? Just because Stephen Davis punched in a billion TD's from 1 yard out doesn't make them a run team. Clevlands running game has been a bigger factor for them than Carolina's.

They have the ability to score points on the bears now for whatever reason they didn't in the first meeting. And if they do the bears won't be able to keep up.

The Vikings has a better chance of getting in the playoff by winning their division than the wildcard.

Neither the Bears or Vikings are that good of a team. Both benefit from being in a weak conference in a weak division.

If Minnesota beats Pitt this weekend, I'll take them seriously. If not, they at least had a nice run against weak NFC teams.

Likewise, Chicago screams mediocrity and while their D is good, this team doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the top teams in the AFC.

none of the NFC teams can compete with the top 5 or 6 afc teams

ps, I call carolina a running team because they have only 1 WR with more than 25 catches

Top AFC teams:

Indy (13-0), not one loss to NFC... or AFC for that matter.
Cincy (10-3), they beat up the (as you call it) pitiful NFC north.. so we can't base their nfc wins on anything.
Denver (10-3), Dallas beat them.
Jax (9-4), heh, St. Louis beat them.
New England (8-5), they lost to Carolina
San Diego (8-5), lost to both Philly and Dallas
K.C. (8-5), lost to both Philly and Dallas

these are the top 7 teams, put them in any order and there's only 2 teams that haven't lost to an NFC team (and one of them beat any non NFC-north team).

Now Jax did beat Seattle, Denver did beat the Giants, as did San Diego, and New England did beat Atlanta. But, this does not mean all nfc teams are trash. there are a few more matchups left (New England - Tampa), (Pittsburgh - Minnesota), (Giants - K.C), among others that will add to the list.

Yes the AFC is good this year, and I think it would be tough to match the AFC's top 3 to the NFC's, but to compare the top 5-6 in the AFC as being a no contest battle with any NFC top team is assinine

I'd say right now the AFC has three of the top four teams, but unlike in years past, the NFC is actually deeper with more 'good' teams than the AFC, I think.

Head to head, their records are nearly identical.

Seattle, Dallas, Carolina and Tampa can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere.

New England, Pitt, and KC are not top 3 AFC teams so when you match them up against two of the top three NFC teams, realize you aren't getting the best games.

You left out Indy vs Seattle, which will be the best NFC test so far. Although if Indy parks there starters, I'll be disappointed.

steelers are probably the #5 or 6 AFC team(maybe #7)

the Bears are the #2 NFC team (they beat carolina, and tampa)

steelers dominated the bears

Bottom line is this "this afc team beat that nfc team so they're better than all of them" is crap really, cause none of it matters once the playoffs start, and then it's a whole new season.

Yes the playoffs is where we will see who is the best, but I was only commenting on Tikkers comments about how the top 5 - 6 AFC teams would win hands down against ANY NFC team. I was pointing out that some of those top 5-6 AFC teams (I listed 7 so I would not miss any) have lost to NFC teams, and on some occasions more than once.

And Tikker, yes the 5th, 6th, 7th place Steelers beat the supposed 2nd best team in the NFC, according to you, and some others, who come from the most pitiful division of the NFC.... so the Steelers beat the number one team out of the shittiest division in the NFC, congrats. how about the #3 team in the AFC losing to Dallas... a team not even leading their division right now (think Giants are #1)

ps, the bears looked dangerous with grossman in there

by dangerous, I mean pretty good running team with a QB that can be good enough to make you play the pass just enough to provide running room

I think they're the legit #2 NFC team if grossman can continually bring that much energy to their offense

The NFC is so hard to figure out. The Bears got stomped by Pitt, but turn around and beat up a good Atlanta team.

One week I think Carolina is the cream of the crop, then they lose easily to Tampa. Ditto the Giants. Ditto the Cowboys. Ditto the Skins.
