Gracie is bigger and has the mad submission skills if hes kept himself in shape and trained well i think he will stop matt hughes without much of a problem. I think hes gonna choke him out apply a submission help him up send him home :) Cant wait for the next tim sylvia or chuck liddel fights either those dudes rock. Are shamrock and tito set to fight at the end of this ultimate fighter series ?

Hughes is a fucking machine.

I thought he was so down and out one time that *I* could have fucked him up if I "tagged in".

He obliterated the guy in short order soon after that thought. I almost shit myself in amazement.

Yeah, I saw that one Harri

I couldn't believe it either

I'm REALLY excited to see gracie/hughes

Gracie was my hero way back then, I'm never going to forget him getting jabowned by Dan Severyn then all of a sudden Severyn tapping out

I remember thinking, wtf, he's getting the shti kicked out of him how did he win

then they showed the instant replay and the arm lock he had him in ;)

I'm a huge Matt Huges fan, he's a bad mother fucker for sure, I don't think he's got the submission skills to take down Gracie though, but the one thing he does have going for him is Gracie is getting up there in age.

Shamrock and Ortis are supposed to fight this summer but I'm hearing it's being pushed back because Ortis broke something a collar bone (I think) when he Fought Forrest Griffen a few weeks ago so they are assuming that the fight will be pushed back.

Personally I'd like to see some UFC fighters fight pure boxers and watch the boxers get the shit kicked out of em.

The tito griffen fight was pure robbery. griffen won round 2 and 3 to anyone who wasnt blind and the call still went to tito. I hope he broke something.

I think if ken would train as hard as tito it would be a good fight but ken doesnt condition to last so tito is gonna beat him again.

Ill bet my goat points gracie wins by submition in the second

arent boxers ( least the ones worth watching) like 300 pounds and like 6'9?

Wow, didn't know any UFC fans on NT. I'm a big fan =p. Seen every fight PPV style since the 30s at least... and I loved the original fights on VHS (blockbuster rental :teehee: )

Gracie is a god... but I really don't think he's going to win this.

Matt Hughes is the 'new breed' of champion. The reason they pulled Gracie out of retirement is because there was like... 'nobody' else for Hughes to fight. He's beaten... and by beaten, that pretty much means "beaten the fuck out of"... EVERYBODY that could be considered a contender. I see this more as an exhibition than anything... But at the same time, Matt is a totally different fighter than the type Gracie fought. Royce's brother Rickson fights a lot like Hughes, and THAT would have been a cool fight... but I think Royler Gracie is the only one that's still fighting.

Anyway... I really don't think this will be a fight at all. I think Royce is too old. It's a total shame too. His legend was already cemented in the MMA world... he was 'the best ever'. Coming out of retirement and winning would obviously do wonders for his legacy, but I'm just really thinking he's going to come off as the old man who should have stayed at home. He's not like Foreman fighting against a lame duck champion... he's fighting the most dominant champion in the sport, and don't argue that... Franklin and Liddell don't dominate their class nearly as well as Hughes. Hell, I think Franklin could possibly put on some weight and challenge Chuck. Anyway... Gracie is in for a huge let down. I'm calling it a 1 round knock out... or it'll go 5 rounds and it'll be the most boring no-strategy grappling like the Gracie-Shamerock exhibition bullshit 10 years ago. (20 minutes of circling each other on the floor).

Grappling is fine, but fuck if they don't get any shots in or good holds...

That is an extreme waste of time and money for the viewer.

it'll be interesting I think

I do agree that Hughes is a LOT more polished, and more complete than anyone else Gracie's fought (that we've seen that is)

I'd really like to see Gracie jabown him to tell you the truth. I think it would do wonders for the sport

That's the reason I don't like UFC... all the grappling... I don't really like to watch close-quarters fights where they just hold eachother and they're both ultra tired and trying desperately to land a punch.... every UFC match i've ever tried to watch degenerates into that and that's when i turn it off

I like grappling just fine... it's just that SOME fights are BORING grappling fights...

Drem, most UFC nowadays isn't grappling. In the late 20s and 30s, grappling ruled the octagon... Then strikers started owning everyone... and now it's the well rounded people who are unbeatable. Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin are the perfect examples... they are totally dominant on their feet just as well as they are on the ground. Liddell, on the other hand, really can't do much on the ground... he relies on keeping you up... until he puts you down. That's one reason he's so popular. He bloodies the fuck out of his opponent's faces.

I'm picking Hughes as well. It's amazing how huge he looks at 170. Height/weight wise we're about the same, only he looks 2x bigger. Machine for true.

Silvia is a bitch. He got lucky vs Andrei. Andrei totally dominated his weight class... completely owned Silvia in their first match. Andrei Orlovski is THE dominant force in the heavyweight class. He can fight on his feet as well as he can on the ground. If the UFC was fought the way it was in the old days (no weight class), Andrei would be the overall champ... he's a freaking beast.

I personally love to see shamrock get jabowned, I hate that greasy fucker

I tend to like grapplers myself (coming from a judo/wrestling background) and always like Randy Couture

I like Chuck Liddel too, and Hughes, and Franklin

mostly, I just love to watch white guys kick the shit out of black guys

ps, i'm kidding, i just like matches with lots of action, stand up, grappling the whole thing. it bores me when it's just standup, or just grappling

i like it all too for the most part. Only thing i really hate is when they just lay there and hump each other. I dont really like to see a fight go to decision either make a dude quit or knock him out.
