Hi. Baseball is lame. ARod is putting up some numbers as usual in the first part of the season but I'm anticipating him choking a dick post season. Barry Bonds went from an almost 70 HR season then got off the drugs and now can't hit a hr to save his life. He's 9 HR away from breaking Hank Aaron's record*. Other than that baseball is still boring.

*Hank Aaron didn't juice.

It got a lot of mileage until the basketball playoffs got to the finals (and started to suck).

This is the first year I've really tried to understand Nascar and I seem to really be warming up to it. Once you pick a driver to follow, it really makes it easier. I decided to follow Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin.

I also understand why people hate Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson.

Nonono no tony stewart! He ranks on the bitch level where gordan does! Denny is ok though I like him. If I had to pick anymore it would be Mark Martin or Matt Kenseth or Dale Jr. (just because I liked his dad). Used to be Davey Allison and Allan Kulwicki until they died when I was little ><

Dale pissed me off going to Hendrix Racing from DEI :(

I followed NASCAR when I was working in Tennessee and NC, simply because the rocket scientist super genius engineers I worked with liked to pretend to be folksy redneck hillbillies, and demanded I follow stock car racing.

Tony Stewart is nothing like Gordon. I mainly follow him and Hamlin because they are with Joe Gibbs Racing and with me being a Redskins fan it was a natural choice. Plus, Hamlin is really tearing it up this only being his second year in Nascar.

I understand why Jr. left DEI, but to go to the company that his father hated probably left many of his fans feeling betrayed.

Teresa is a huge cunt too though, Jr. has never got along with her.

Stewart, Jeff AND Robby Gordon, the Busch brothers, and Michael Waltrip represent the drivers I hate the most nowadays~

I will never understand the appeal of watching a bunch of people drive 500 miles in a circle. At least with most Grand Prix racing they have to deal with hairpin curves, and tracks that are frequently converted from city streets, and thus aren't glass-perfect and banked just so.

Maybe it'd be more interesting if they really DID use "Stock" cars, like their name claims. Have a pool of vehicles straight from the manufacturer, the only difference between those cars and ones on showroom floors being tires. Which car you get is done via a random draw.

Right now those cars bear no more resemblance to a stock version of the car than an R/C car does.

Their response would be they can't understand people watching 7 foot freaks run back and forth putting a ball in a basket over and over.

At least in Nascar, there's engineering, strategy, actual danger, and the appeal of a fast race car.

Note, I'm not a Nascar fan, but it's not that different from our other sports, except a hell of a lot more dangerous.

It isn't a sport. It is an endurance competition.

Huge difference.

Well, maybe they all need to get in better shape like other athletes... Like Curt Schilling or John Daly.. or heck, even Shawn Bradley!

I love speed for one thing. Theres a lot more strategy than meets the eye in the sport though. That and I just like loud, fast cars :dunno:

I dont have any appeal to watch a bunch of tattooed gangbangers run up and down a court putting a ball in a circle, in between hoots and hollers like their a bunch of wild monkeys. But again, you have no appeal for watching a bunch of rednecks drive in circles with the crowd sloshing beer everywhere. The two sports are equally as dumb if you think about it.

But I can 100% understand why people wouldnt like Nascar too though. And thats fine. Its whatever you like to watch :dunno:

Nascar drivers are suprisingly fit people and most of them are athletes. Many work out for hours a day and have fitness trainers to keep their bodies in top shape. Many people don't realize how taxing it is to sit in in a car with no heating or air conditioning for 4 or 5 hours. Some drivers even request bananas during the race because the potassium prevents cramping.

Being in Nascar takes a lot of intelligence. Whether it be the driver, the pit crew or the crew chief, there is tons of strategy and engineering involved. If there is one thing stupid about Nascar its the fans. But can't that be said about any sport?

Shawn Bradley isn't an athlete by any definition of the term.

Like I said before, it is an endurance competition, not a sport.

That doesn't change the fact that they are athletes.
They simply train for different conditions & stresses on the body.

So I guess Baseball, Hockey, Golf, and Curling are not sports.
