Hunter pet site

I ran across this on the WOW home page, and thought it was a pretty decent site.

Very comprehensive.

meh. Not having played a hunter before, I just thought it was neat because it showed you all the different models available and where to find them, and also which skills each can show you. I thought it would be pretty helpful should I ever want to start one. =)

I like it just because you can shop around model wise. I found this site today browsing the hunter forums lol.

I disagree with that statement 100%. A bear tanks much better than a cat which DPSes better than a strider, etc.

There's certainly a difference. And in PVP, it's even more noticeable with spell interrupts on fast attack speed pets.

All pets are NOT created equal.

Before I went in the water in WoW, I made everyone promise me there were no damn squid.

I swear to god, fuck the Conav event in EQ, what a nightmare for me LOL

No I did not admitt it

When I had an alliance in beta I just politely asked exactly what was in the water that I had to hunt for "INSERT QUEST NAME". When there were no squid mentioned I proceeded.

Eventually in release someone in the guild asked why I always checked out what was in the water before going in, and I stupidly admitted to the guild that giant squid make me uneasy ><

Choice of pets make practially no difference what so ever. I have had the same pet since level 10, I have not seen any need to switch, I have tried them all, they are the same. They have slight difference, but none that would make it worth it to keep multiple pets and use the situationally. My cat works just fine for tanking, the bear I had did just fine in DPS. If your looking for a DPS boost get a beter gun/bow, if your looking for beter tanking get more int gear for heals or get a better gun/bow and kill the mob faster.
For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

attack speed in PVP is a consideration, I'll give you that

But the tanking difference between a bear and a cat is almost nil

I still want a slavering worg. Has almost as fast pursuit as the kitties and I can get it at a low level. I prefer wolves to cats just because I think an orc female hunter looks better with a wolfie.

or... screech + growl on a bat will hold agro a lot better than say a bear with growl+bite will hold agro

wolves with howl can be somewhat useful in raid situations if you're grouped with other melee

and to ignore the contribution of a fast attack speed pet to fighting casters in pvp is foolish

i have 3 pets - a bat for PVE grinding - a wolf for raiding - and a 1.2 speed cat for PVP, screech + howl + prowl + dash + dive and appopriate stat boosts for each situation

all pets are the same if all you're doing is world PVE
